General Conference Broadcast Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I click to listen to or view the broadcast?
After you have properly downloaded and installed a multimedia player, follow these steps:
1. Return to the frontpage of the General Conference Internet Broadcast.
2. Click on an "Available Streams" link for the language in which you wish to listen.

Can I view video streams?
In order to view video streams, you must have a fast Internet connection. A "fast" connection is defined as an ISDN, DSL, cable, or T1 connection. Most typical home connections are telephone modem connections. These do not work well with Internet video streams. If you are having difficulty viewing a video stream, switch to a lower-bandwith audio stream.

Why is the audio skipping?
If you are having problems with the quality of your audio stream (sounds choppy, or buffers often), try listening to the Windows Media 8k Stream. This Stream may have poor quality for music and hymns, but will sound good for the talks.

How do I listen or watch?
In order for you to enjoy our audio and video programming, you'll need to have special software called a "player" loaded on your computer. The player software does all the work of taking the audio and video from the lds.org site and translating it into a format that you can hear and watch on your computer.

This technology is called streaming audio and video. We use three streaming technologies to deliver programming to you. The Windows Media Player is from Microsoft. The QuickTime Player is from Apple. The RealPlayer is from RealNetworks.

You will need to get the Windows Media Player by Microsoft, QuickTime Player by Apple, or RealPlayer by RealNetworks installed on your machine if you do not have it already.

All of the above players are free. If you already have them, you are ready to listen to or view any audio or video content on lds.org. If you are not sure, click on the buttons below to test your browser.

If you are ready to listen to the broadcast, click here to return to the General Conference Internet Broadcast frontpage. After returning to the frontpage, click on an "Available Streams" link for the language in which you wish to listen.

Test Players
Windows Media Player test
If a small window pops up and you hear audio, you already have the Windows Media Player. If your browser warns you that you don't have a necessary plug-in or helper application, then you will need to download the Windows Media Player.

QuickTime Player test
If a small window pops up and you hear audio, you already have the QuickTime Player. If your browser warns you that you don't have a necessary plug-in or helper application, or you receive any kind of error, then you will need to download the QuickTime Player.

RealPlayer test
If a small window pops up and you hear audio, you already have the RealPlayer. If your browser warns you that you don't have a necessary plug-in or helper application, then you will need to download the RealPlayer.

Download Players

Apple QuickTime Player

RealPlayer To download the free player, scroll down and look for the small text that describes the "basic free player" along with a link to download.  Otherwise, you will be asked to purchase the full version, which is not required for lds.org content.

Basic Troubleshooting
If you are unable to receive audio or video content from lds.org, there could a problem with your receiving computer, a network congestion problem from the Internet itself, or a technical problem with lds.org receiving the feed from the source and redistributing it on the Internet.

Can I access streaming media via WebTV?
No. WebTV currently supports up to RealAudio 3.0. Since lds.org encodes programming with the more advanced RealSystem 5.0 and G2 encoder, WebTV users cannot access our programming. It is unknown when WebTV will support RealSystem 5.0 and G2. WebTV does not support Microsoft Windows Media Player at this time.
