Elder Scott D. Whiting
Elder Scott D. Whiting was sustained a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2012, at age 50. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy in the North America West Area.
Elder Whiting received a bachelor’s degree in Japanese from Brigham Young University in 1986 and a Juris Doctor degree in law from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 1990. Most recently, he was employed as the president of Waterhouse, Inc., and previously worked as the president and CEO of Molokai Ranch.
Elder Whiting has been active in civic affairs, serving as a member of the Aloha Council Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America and as chairman of the LDS/Boy Scout Relations Committee. He has also served as a member of the Brigham Young University-Hawaii School of Business Executive Advisory Board, and on the board of Hawaii Reserves, Inc.
Elder Whiting has served in numerous Church callings, including as a full-time missionary in the Japan Tokyo North Mission, elders quorum president, bishop, stake Young Men president, high councilor, stake president, and Area Seventy.
Scott Duane Whiting was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 1, 1961. He married Jeri Olson in April 1984, and they are the parents of five children.
