Brazilian Youth Spread Christmas Spirit
By Márcio Roberto Patelli, Campo Grande Brazil Monte Líbano Stake public affairs
Youth in the Campo Grande Brazil and Campo Grande Brazil Monte Líbano Stakes, in conjunction with the Facebook group Face Solidário, an organization promoting unity and service, gathered on the morning of Saturday, December 10, to deliver toys to some 500 children in Campo Grande in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (MS).
The activity, called Natal Solidário, or “Unified Christmas,” has been held for many years. But this year, for the first time, the event took place in the Tagarela Association, which attends to children and others with special needs. The youth also delivered toys to families in Vila Nhanha, a neighborhood of Campo Grande.
The youth volunteers and Face Solidário members gathered the gifts from community members during the month of November.
The celebration included not only distribution of gifts but also face painting, snacks, a visit from Santa Claus (played by Roberto Borba, second counselor in the Campo Grande Stake presidency), and a choir singing Christmas songs.
