The British Pageant 2013
The First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve have authorised the first official Church Pageant in Britain to take place from 31 July to 10 August 2013 in the grounds of the Preston Temple.
These Pageants, which are popular with members in the USA, commemorate important events from Church history and the scriptures and have audiences of thousands each year.
The British Pageant is to follow the same format but with a focus on the history of the Church in the British Isles, written and performed by members from around the United Kingdom.
The script and music has been specially written to reflect the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout “This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle...This other Eden... This precious stone set in the silver sea”. Many have expressed an interest in travelling to be in the audience from all over the UK, with enquiries from beyond our shores.
Rehearsals are well underway with the first performance taking place on Wednesday July 31st until August 10th. (No performances on Sunday 4th or Monday 5th August). For more details see www.britishpageant.org or Facebook page, The British Pageant 2013. Use #BritishPageant.
