A Lifetime of Service
Posted: 4 July 2012Jean McDowall is an outstanding woman in the community who values the opportunity to serve. At 85 she has macular degeneration and is legally blind, but she faithfully serves as the Warrnambool Branch Relief Society President, in South Western Victoria, and is ably assisted by her two councillors, Sister Marion Jones who is herself over 70, and Sister Valerie Dearden who is a service missionary in Warrnambool. Posted: 3 July 2012The new Director for Temporal Affairs (DTA) for the Pacific Area, Terry Oakes was surprised and excited when he was told his new assignment was to be the DTA in the Pacific Area Office. Having served in the New Zealand South Mission from 1965 – 1967, Brother Oakes is familiar with our part of the world, and he said “This is a beautiful country, with wonderful people. I have a special feeling for New Zealand. I haven’t travelled a lot in the Pacific, but I think there is a special spirit about the island people.” Full Story

World Record Holder Overcomes Massive Personal Challenges
Posted: 8 June 2012At the age of eight, Todd Hodgetts was diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome. Throughout his school years he was misunderstood and bullied mercilessly by both his schoolmates and teachers. Although he was found to have great athletic ability, Todd was unable to obtain a sports scholarship. Undeterred, he saved up for six years to pay his own way to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. Full Story

Posted: 1 June 2012Dallin Watene-Zelesniak and Halauafu Lavaka of the U18's Penrith Panthers squad are reaping the fruits of their labours on and off the field by balancing family, faith and football. Both young men of Minchinbury and Fairfield 1st Ward respectively, are on the rise in their respective Rugby League careers, but attribute their success to their family and faith in Jesus Christ. They are in their senior years of secondary school at the prestigious Rugby League nursery, Patrician Brothers College Blacktown, playing at the junior representative level and actively engaged in the programmes of the Church. Missionary Legacy in Australia Spans Decades

When Scott Tingey of Salt Lake City received his call to the Australia Adelaide Mission in 2010, he was excited about boosting a missionary connection that began in 1917 when his great-grandfather Clarence H.
