Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged on the successful expression of Latter-day Saint subject matter; on the excellence of aesthetic and technical accomplishment; and on the creativity, originality, and quality of the art. Jurors will also ensure that many areas of the world are represented in the exhibit.
Judging Process
Two rounds of judging by a multimember jury will take place. The first round will be based on photographic images of the artwork submitted with the entry form. First-round winners will be notified and instructed to send the original artwork to the Church History Museum for the second round of judging. Winning second-round entries will be shown in the exhibit.
Notification of Winners
The Church History Museum will mail the results of the first round of judging on or before December 31, 2011. Winners will receive instructions for delivering original art to the museum. Artists should not send original art to the museum unless notified to do so. Works accepted for the exhibition must remain at the museum until after the exhibit officially closes to the public.
Awards
Up to 20 Merit Awards of $500 each will be given to recognize outstanding pieces. A number of Purchase Awards will be given to acquire art for the museum collection. Three Visitors’ Choice Awards of $500 each will be given shortly before the exhibition closes.
