Evidence from emigration and church (Perpetual Emigrating Fund) records proves he traveled to Utah in 1863. Although there is no extant roster for the McArthur company, Edgel was alive at and after the publication of <i>Pioneers and Prominent Men</i> and may have contributed that information.
