According to Jewish law, the woman with an issue of blood (Mark 5:2534) was forced into confinement for twelve years. To go into public, her faith must have been extraordinary. Afraid to do anything that would draw attention, she reached only for Jesus' robe, hoping to get away quickly. To then have Him ask, "Who touched my clothes?" must have struck her with terror (Mark 5:30). However, He said beautifully, "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace" (Mark 5:34). Greater still was the assurance that Jesus, the Divine Healer, had answered the cries of her soul and accepted her reaching out in faith. The cries of our hearts are heard by Christ today, and with that same faith we too may draw upon His power and love. |
