Come unto Me, All Ye that Labor and Are Heavy Laden, Benjamin Behunin Come unto Me, All Ye that Labor and Are Heavy Laden

Benjamin Behunin
Fired clay, 2001

The subject of this piece of artwork comes from Matthew 11. The two people on either side of the Savior––a man and a woman––are so burdened by their heavy loads that they can't see where they are going. The Savior stands in the middle of the triptych and holds a double yoke, implying that the reason His yoke is easy is because as we turn to Him, He helps us to carry our burdens. The tiles were formed using a linoleum block carved in relief and impressed into the clay. Stain was applied and fired in a kiln to 2,400 degrees.
