The Young Brother Brigham, Blaine Wilcox The Young Brother Brigham

Blaine Wilcox
Carved wood, 2001

Few Latter–day Saints have had more influence on the Church and the world than Brigham Young. His colonizing efforts are unsurpassed by anyone in modern times. Through his leadership he guided a persecuted, down–trodden people, and helped make a barren wasteland "blossom as a rose." This hand–carved pine sculpture was completed during 2001, the 200th anniversary of Brigham Young's birth. It shows him as a young, vigorous, dynamic leader and colonizer with the vision of taking the Saints to their promised land.
