Little Skylights

Classes for the youngest children in Primary were the last to get class names. For many years they were simply Class 1 and Class 2 or Beginners, Younger Groups, or Junior Groups. In the late 1950s names were added – Moonbeams, Sunbeams, Stars, and Rainbows for 3,4,5, and 6 year olds respectively. Sunbeams and Stars were the longest–lasting names. The Sunbeam name continues to the present, but as the name of the class for 3 year olds.
