Home Builders

Building Tomorrow's Homes

In 1931 Home Builders became the program for 9–to 11–year–old girls. Larks, Bluebirds, and Seagulls were the class emblems. A system of awards encouraged each girl to earn stickers for her booklets and awards to be placed on her bandlo. In 1959 the name of the program was changed to Lihomas, meaning Little Homemakers. Class names were also changed to Gaynotes, Firelights, and Merrihands. Later these classes all became the Merry Miss program. Through all these changes, the goal was always to help girls develop a variety of skills and values to be used as adult Latter–day Saint women.
