I.

ʻOku tau moʻui ʻi ha māmani ʻoku tuʻu uesia ai ʻa e foʻi fakakaukau ʻo e malí pea angamaheni ʻaki e vete malí.

II.

ʻOku tokolahi siʻa kāingalotu lelei ʻo e Siasí kuo nau vete mali. ʻOku ou fie tomuʻa lea kiate kinautolu. ʻOku mau ʻilo ko homou tokolahi ko e tonuhia-ʻa-faiekina—ko ha kāingalotu ne toutou maumauʻi pe liʻaki ʻe honau hoa ki muʻá, ʻa e ngaahi fuakava toputapú mo taʻe fie fakahoko honau fatongia fakaemalí ʻi ha taimi lōloa. ʻOku ʻiloʻi tonu ʻe he kāingalotu kuo nau foua e tūkunga peheé, ha meʻa ʻoku kovi ange ia ʻi he vete malí.

III.

Tomuʻa fakakaukauʻi ʻa e fānaú. Koeʻuhí ʻoku fakamavaheʻi ʻe he veté siʻi ngaahi fiemaʻu ʻa e fānaú mei he fiemaʻu ʻa e mātuʻá, ko ia ʻoku ʻuluaki uesia leva ʻa e fānaú. ʻOku talamai ʻe he kau mataotao ʻo e moʻui fakafāmilí, ko e tefitoʻi tupuʻanga ʻo e hōloa ʻi he tuʻunga moʻui ʻa e fānaú, ko e vaivai ko ia ʻo e nofo malí, he ʻoku holoki ʻe he moveuveu ʻo e fāmilí ʻa e tokanga ʻa e mātuʻá ki he fānaú.4 ʻOku tau ʻilo ko e siʻi fānau ko ia ʻoku ohi hake ʻi he ʻapi ʻoku toko taha ai pē mātuʻá hili ʻa e veté, ʻoku nau tuʻu uesia lahi ange ke ngāue hala ʻaki ʻa e faitoʻo kona tapú pe kava mālohí, angaʻuli fakasekisualé, kovi mo e akó, mo hano ngaohikovia kehekehe.

ʻOku ʻikai faleʻi ʻe he kau pīsopé ʻa e kāingalotú ke nau vete, ka te nau lava ʻo tokoniʻi ʻa e kāingalotú ʻi he nunuʻa ʻo ʻenau filí. Fakatatau mo e fono ʻa e ʻEikí, ko e malí, ʻo hangē ko e moʻui ʻa e tangatá, ko ha meʻa moʻui ʻoku mahuʻinga. Kapau ʻoku puke hotau sinó, te tau feinga ke fakamoʻui ia. ʻOku tonu ke pehē pē mo ʻetau nofo malí, pea kapau te tau fekumi ki he ʻEikí, te Ne tokoniʻi mo fakamoʻui kitautolu.

ʻOku tonu ke fai ʻe he mātuʻa mali kotoa pē ʻi he Siasí ʻa e meʻa te nau lavá, ke fakahaofi ʻenau nofo malí. ʻOku tonu ke nau muimui ki he faleʻi lelei ʻi he pōpoaki ʻa e Kau Palesitenisī ʻUluakí ʻi he Liahona ʻo ʻEpeleli 2007.5 Koeʻuhí ke taʻofi ʻa e meʻa ko ē ʻoku ui ko e “taʻe fetaulakí,” ʻoku tonu ke na hoko ko e ongo kaumeʻa lelei taha, ʻo angaʻofa mo fakaʻatuʻi, feongoʻiʻaki ʻena ngaahi fiemaʻú, mo feinga maʻu pē ke fiefia ʻa e taha ko ʻeé. ʻOku tonu ke na fekoekoeʻi ʻi he meʻa fakapaʻanga ʻo e fāmilí, ʻo fetākinima ʻi hono mapuleʻi ʻena ngaahi holi ki he meʻa fakaetuʻasinó.

ʻOku moʻoni ʻe ʻi ai pē taimi ʻe tōnounou ai ha taha pea kafo leva ʻa e tahá mo ongoʻi mamahi. Ka hoko ia, ʻoku tonu ke fuatatau ʻe he taha ʻoku tonuhiá, ʻa e mamahi kuo hokó mo e ngaahi lelei ʻo e kuo hilí kae ʻumaʻā ʻa e lelei lahi ange ʻe ala hoko he kahaʻú.

Ko ha vakai ʻeni ʻa ha pīsope poto mo taukei ʻi hono faleʻi ʻo e kāingalotu ʻoku ʻi ai ʻenau palopalema fakaemalí. Naʻá ne pehē, fekauʻaki mo kinautolu ʻoku iku veté:

“ʻI he fakalūkufuá, ʻokú na nofo pē ʻi he foʻui honau malí kae siʻi haʻanau tukuakiʻi ki honau ʻulungāangá. Kuo mōlia ʻa e fetuʻutakí ia.

“Fakalūkufuá, ne nau toe sio ki mui, ʻo ʻikai fie siʻaki ʻa e ngaahi tōʻonga hala he kuo hilí, ka nau hoko atu.

“ʻI he taimi ʻe niʻihi, ne kau ai ha angahala mamafa, ka ʻi he taimi lahi, ne ʻʻikai pē ke na toe feʻofaʻaki,’ peá na pehē, “ʻOku ʻikai ke ne toe feau ʻeku ngaahi fie maʻú’ pe ʻKuo liliu ia.’

“ʻOku hohaʻa ʻa e taha kotoa fekauʻaki mo ʻene kaunga kovi ki he fānaú, ka ʻoku meimei ko e aofangatukú maʻu pē, “e kau kovi ange kiate kinautolu kapau te ma kei fakataha pē mo faʻa kē.’”

ʻI he tafaʻaki ʻe tahá, ko e ongomeʻa ko ē ne muimui ki he faleʻi ʻa e pīsopé ni mo nofo fakatahá, kuo aʻu ʻo lelei ange ʻena nofo malí. Naʻe kamata e fakakaukau ko iá ʻi heʻena felotoi ke tauhi ʻa e ngaahi fekaú, faimālohi he ʻalu ki he lotú, lau folofola mo lotú pea mo ngāue ke fakaleleiʻi ʻena ngaahi tōnounoú. Naʻá na “fakatokangaʻi hono mahuʻinga mo e mālohi ʻo e Fakaleleí ki hono malí pea mo ia foki” pea “naʻá na faʻa kātaki mo toutou feinga pē.’ Ko e taimi naʻe fakaʻaongaʻi moʻoni ai ʻe he ngaahi mātuʻa naʻá ne faleʻí ʻa e ngaahi meʻa ko ʻení, ʻo fakatomala mo feinga ke fakahaofi ʻenau nofo malí, naʻe pehē leva ʻe he pīsopé “naʻe peseti ʻe 100 hono fakahaofi ʻena nofo malí.”

Naʻa mo kinautolu ʻoku nau pehē ko honau malí pē ʻoku tonu ke tukuakiʻí, ʻoku ʻikai tonu ke nau faʻa fakavavevave. Ne pehē ʻi ha fakatotolo fakaʻāuliliki ʻe taha, “ʻoku ʻikai ha fakamoʻoniʻi ia kuo hanga ʻe he veté pe māvaé ʻo ʻai e kakai lalahí ke nau toe fiefia ange, mei heʻenau kei nofo fakataha taʻefiefia mo honau malí. Naʻe lipooti ʻe ha mātuʻa mali ʻe ua mei he tolu kotoa pē, naʻa nau fiefia ange ʻi he ʻosi atu ha taʻu ʻe nima, neongo naʻa nau mamahi ʻi heʻenau nofo malí.”6 Ne fakamatalaʻi ʻe ha fefine naʻe siʻi kei ʻūkuma pē ʻi ha nofo mali faingataʻa ʻi ha ngaahi taʻu lahi, kae ʻoua kuo lalahi ʻa e fānaú: “Ne ʻi ai ha tafaʻaki ʻe tolu ki heʻema malí—ko hoku husepānití mo au pea mo e ʻEikí. Naʻá ku pehē, kapau ʻe kātaki ha tafaʻaki ʻe ua, te ma kei lava pē ʻo fakataha.”

Ko e mālohi ko ia ʻo e ʻamanaki leleí ʻoku hā ʻi he ngaahi sīpingá ni, ʻoku faʻa fakapaleʻi ʻaki ʻa e fakatomalá mo e liliú, ka ʻi he taimi ʻe niʻihi ʻoku ʻikai hoko. ʻOku kehekehe fau ʻa e ngaahi tūkunga fakafoʻituituí. He ʻikai ke tau lava ʻo mapuleʻi pea he ʻikai ke tau haʻisia ki he fili ʻa e kakai kehé, ʻo aʻu ki haʻane fakamamahiʻi lahi kitautolu. ʻOku ou tui pau ʻoku ʻofa mo tāpuekina ʻe he ʻEikí siʻi ngaahi husepāniti mo e uaifi ʻoku feinga ʻi he ʻofa ke tokoniʻi honau hoa ʻoku fekuki mo e faʻahinga palopalema lahi peheé, ʻo hangē ko e ponokalafí pe ngaahi tōʻonga ʻulungāanga kehe pe nunuʻa taimi lōloa ʻo hano ngaohikovia ʻi he kei siʻí.

Ko e hā pē hono olá, neongo pe ko e hā hano faingataʻa e meʻa ʻoku hokó, kuó ke maʻu ʻa e talaʻofa ko ia he ʻikai taʻofi meiate koe ʻa e ngaahi tāpuaki ʻo e feohi fakafāmili taʻengatá, kapau te ke ʻofa ki he ʻEikí, tauhi ʻEne ngaahi fekaú, mo fai pē hoʻo lelei tahá.
