Noah’s Ark

(a fingerplay)
And God spoke unto Noah, … saying, … I do set my [rain]bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and … you and every living creature. (Gen. 9:8, 13, 15.)
Noah built an ark, oh so big and wide—
(Place wrists together, hands in cupping shape.)
All the animals hurried to be safe inside.
(Wiggle fingers, then fold them in and touch knuckles.)
It kept them dry from the flooding rain,
For forty days and nights.
(Rock fists back and forth as if the ark is rocking upon the waves.)
Until Noah was told to come out again
(Fingers open up and out to original position.)
And see the rainbow bright!
(Form a rainbow with arms.)

Sandwich Creature

1 slice bread

1 slice lunch meat

2 tablespoons coleslaw

1 stuffed olive, halved (for eyes)

1/2 slice pineapple (for mouth)

2 thin sticks of celery with leaves (for arms)

2 thicker sticks of celery (for legs)

2 carrot disks (for feet)

  1. 1.

    Place the lunch meat on the bread, then spread on the coleslaw.

  2. 2.

    Place the remaining ingredients on as illustrated, or make up your own Sandwich Creature.

Animal Jingles

Here are jingles about animal sounds. Draw a line from each jingle to the animal that makes that sound.

1. As I walk the jungle floor, I roar, roar, ROAR.

Cow

2. As I eat my corn and hay, I bray, bray, BRAY.

Dog

3. As I munch grass wet with dew, I moo, moo, MOO.

Donkey

4. As in the lily pond I soak, I croak, croak, CROAK.

Dove

5. When I want my morning meal, I squeal, squeal, SQUEAL.

Duck

6. In the dark woods, when I prowl, I howl, howl, HOWL.

Frog

7. As I strut about and wobble, I gobble, gobble, GOBBLE.

Lion

8. If there’s noise when it is dark, I bark, bark, BARK.

Parrot

9. When I sing a song for you, I coo, coo, COO.

Pig

10. If you’re sleeping, I wake you With a COCK-A-DOODLE-DOO.

Rooster

11. If you train me, I may talk, Otherwise, I squawk, squawk, SQUAWK.

Turkey

12. My “footprint” is a three-toed track; I quack, quack, QUACK.
