Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers)
What About:
Q. Can I still get to the previous (old) LDS.org site?
There are still a small number of links on LDS.org that link to the old (classic) site. For example, on the left side of the LDS.org home page, there is a link to the classic ward and stake websites. Also, if you type classic.lds.org in your browser, you can still bring up the old site. However, if you haven't started doing so already, we encourage you to use the current site as much as possible.
Q. What is new or different about the new LDS.org?
The new LDS.org website is new and different in seven ways:
- New purpose—The new site is focused on two key objectives:
- Highlight and extend the words and ministries of the living prophets and apostles.
- Help individuals and families learn, live, and share the restored gospel of the Savior.
- New structure—Whereas the previous site was a wonderful repository where Church departments made their information available to Church membership, the new site is both a repository and a communication channel.
- Improved searching and browsing—The previous site was built for ease of content management, giving Church departments the ability to control their separate sections of the website. The search engine capability was an “add-on” to that content management system. The new site is built within a very capable search and display engine, and we have made content management for Church departments the secondary consideration.
- Leaders are able to easily access most of the applications they need without having to sign in to each application separately.
- You can personalize and collect information and have it stored for you online.
- You can access your ward and stake information.
- New signed-in, personalized access—Once you have signed in:
- A new video player includes the ability to share videos with others.
- You can easily post links to content from LDS.org on your Facebook status or Twitter feed.
- You can e-mail links to LDS.org content to your family and friends.
- New social media integration—From most pages of the new website, you can easily share the content with others.
- Mobile compatibility—The new LDS.org is compatible with the new Gospel Library mobile phone application.
- Worldwide language support—In addition to English, the new site will be provided in Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
Q. Why do we need a new LDS.org?
The Internet has gone through tremendous changes since 2007, when the last major upgrade of the website took place. Primarily, the Internet has changed from an information tool to a conversation tool. Relationships are enabled by the information. The new website takes advantage of these enhanced abilities for people to share and participate together in learning, living, and sharing the gospel online.
How Do I:
Q. How do I get back to the home page of the new LDS.org?
To get back to the home page of new LDS.org, click the Church’s logo at the top of any page in LDS.org. (This is a common method in modern websites.)
Q. Do I have to sign in to use the new site?
No. The site is generally open for access by anyone. However, if you wish to access your ward or stake information, you need to sign in so we know who you are and how to direct you to the right ward or stake information. Leaders also must sign in to access confidential records and information on the Leaders site.
Q. Where can I create my profile for mormon.org?
You can create your personal profile at https://mormonorg.lds.org/profile/eng/.
Q. I want to sign in to my ward and stake directory, but a message is asking me for an LDS Account name and password. How do I get an LDS Account?
To establish your LDS Account, please have your membership number and date of birth and go to https://mormonorg.lds.org/profile/eng/, where you will click on Register here and then enter your membership number and date of birth as prompted.
Q. If I have feedback or a suggestion to make the site better, how do I communicate that?
At the bottom of most of the pages of the new LDS.org website, there is a light blue banner that you can click to leave feedback comments and requests.
About Searching:

To limit the scope of your search to include only certain content:

- In the column on the left side of the Search Results page, click on the content collections you wish to include in your search. A check mark will appear next to the content collections you select. The search results will be filtered to include only the selected content.
When Will:
Q. When will other language sites be available? What are the other languages that will be supported?
In addition to English, the new site will be provided in Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The rough schedule for the release of the new LDS.org in these languages is as follows:
- English
