Biography: |
Bio of Marilyn N. Monson:
My husband, Bruce Monson, and I moved to the GREAT Northwest in Aug. of 2003. We were married in the Manti, UT Temple and have been married for 28 years. We have 4 children (Angela Burton, Brian, Derek, Elise), 1 son-in-law (Scott Burton), and 1 wonderful grandchild (Andrew), who all reside in Utah. Bruce is employed with CES and is currently the Director of the Tacoma LDS Institute. Prior to coming to WA we lived in Hyde Park, UT for 10 years where I earned my BS degree from Utah State University in the field of Music Therapy, and where Bruce earned his PhD, taught seminary at various schools in Cache Valley, and taught institute classes at both Bridgerland Technical College and Logan Institute. Music has always been an important part of my life, and I enjoy playing the piano, organ, violin, guitar, and singing, and have also been a piano instructor for several years. Both during and after earning my degree I worked part-time at the Music Dept. at Utah State. Bruce and I enjoy traveling and have been able to tour many places in the U.S. including LDS church history sites, the Washington, D.C. area and other American history locations, as well as visiting outside the U.S. in South Korea, the Philippines, Israel, Egypt, and Rome. Other hobbies I enjoy include sewing, crocheting, gardening, crafts, cooking, and reading. Psalms 27:4-6 and 2 Nephi 25:26 are scriptures I enjoy because they express my personal desires. We are very happy to be here enjoying the variety and beauty of the Northwest!!
