Biography:

Brother Renán Disner was born in Coatzacoalcos Veracruz, México and at age 14 he joined the Church thru his best friend who was LDS. He was the first in his family to join the Church in 1974 and his parents finally joined him years later. Ever since he was baptized, brother Disner wanted to serve a mission, but was told to wait 5 years to serve. That was too long to wait and after much praying, fasting, begging and three consecutive years of attending the mission prep class, he was allowed to serve a mission at age 17 (right after his junior year in high school) after an interview with a General Authority who gave the authorization. He served in the Torreón Mexico Mission from 1977-79. Soon after his mission he married Evy I. Thorkelson in the Los Angeles Temple and they are the happy parents of seven children, 5 girls and 2 boys. Both boys, Michael and Benjamin have served missions. They are 25, 24, 22,21,19,14, and 13. Brother Disner has served as a bishop in two occasions and has also had the blessing of serving as a stake president. He’s been teaching for the Church Educational System full-time since 1979. He has a degree in International Business and recently he and his wife Evy obtained their Masters degree. In 1992, brother Disner and his family were honored as the Hispanic American Family of the Year for the State of California and were invited to meet with the Bush family in the White House. But, the most memorable experience was to have been invited as VIP to General Conference and meet with “any General Authority they wished and take their pictures with them”. Brother Disner is thrilled to now be serving in the Cerritos Institute where he is looking forward to meeting a lot of awesome people.”
