ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
How do I register for a class?
It is easiest to do it online--click on "register for classes", or you may call the Institute (758-1777), e-mail us at corvallisor@ldsces.org, come into the office and register in person, or register with the teacher at the first class you attend.
How do I get a parking sticker?
You get a sticker (new each term) from Sister Cochran when you register. If you register in any other way than coming into the office, you will need to see her (or Brother Sherry) to obtain one. We keep track of the # on your sticker, so if you park in an unauthorized spot, we can track you down!
I am interested in attending Oregon State and would like to room with other LDS students is there any way to post them on the web?
We have a bulletin board where students needing a room or a roommate can post a message--there is always someone to connect with. To leave information about yourself, email us at corvallisor@ldsces.org
Does the Institute have Wi-Fi for students?
Yes! The password is Pioneer47
How do I check a book out of the library?
By filling out the card in the pocket with the date and your name and leaving it in the wire basket. You may keep the books out for a month. Return them to the basket. Bound periodicals may not be checked out.
Do I have to be a member of the College Hill ward to use the library?
No. Anyone may use the library.
When is the Institute building open?
The Institute is open from 9 am until the last activity of the evening ends. It is not usually open on Saturdays.
May I store food in the refrigerator?
Yes, but put your name on it so people won't think it's there for everyone. You are welcome to use the microwaves, stove, etc. but clean up after yourself! We advise using paper goods so you don't have to wash dishes. You'll find plastic cutlery in a drawer, paper cups and plates in the cupboard.
Can I make copies?
Yes. In the workroom there is a copier for your use. Ten cents/page. Pay either Brother Sherry or Sister Cochran. This copier is not for University Ward use. They have their own copier in the library upstairs. Hint: don't mess with the toner cartridge.
Could I have a wedding reception here?
Yes. Schedule the date with Sister Cochran. We have a large punchbowl, two wooden rounds for a total of 6 round tables and extra long tables and chairs you're welcome to use. We have no tablecloths.
How do I get my engagement posted on the wall in the hall?
Give Sister Cochran the correct spelling of your names and the date of the wedding. She is happy to add new engagement signs!
How do I post an event on the calendar of this website?
On the calendar page at the top left you click on "Submit event." It comes to the office and we post it on the calendar!
How do I get credit for religion classes taken elsewhere transferred to the Corvallis Institute of Religion?
If you have taken religion classes at other church schools, simply bring in a copy of your transcript and we will enter your credit into our computer. If you've taken institute classes elsewhere, just let us know where and when and we will call and have them send us a transcript.
I am over 30 and would like to attend Institute classes. Can I take them at the Institute bldg? If not are the same classes offered at the stake center?
Institute classes are offered to all YSA (young, single adults)and ALL STUDENTS and their spouses, regardless of age. Parking at the Institute is free with class registration AND attendance! Parking stickers are available from Sister Cochran in the office. A Continuing Education class is held during the school year at the Stake Center. It is open to all adults. The class for 2007-08 will be Great Doctrines of the Old Testament and is taught by Sister Kay Davis and Sister Lori Moss.
