QUESTIONS
I attend school now in Southern California and live with my parents. I want to go away to school for my junior year. My parents want me to go up to BYU, but I really don't want to. I would like to stay in CA, but I would like to live in an area that has quite a few members. Are there are lot of YSA members that attend your institute?
Hi, I plan on attending classes at Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose. Is this the closest Institute? What info is available about housing? Any info would be great since I dont know the area or anyone there. Thanks!!
I was wondering how many singles wards/branches are in the general area, and where and when they meet.
Are any of the faculty registered BYU proctors? I have a final I need to take ASAP.
Hi, I am planning on moving down to the area in oct. to start school, but I need to get living arangements, is there anyway I can contact people looking for roomates?
I heard that Institute class members are given parking passes for the garage next to the institute. Is this true? and if so, how do we get these parking passes?
I have some questions and concerns about a non-LDS friend who is interested in taking institute. I was hoping to find an e-mail address to whom I could keep in contact with, but I could find one. Do any of the teachers or administrators have an e-mail address where they can be reached?
I have registerd to take some morning classes at the San Jose institue because it is more condusive to my work schedule. I have traditionally attended the Institute near West Valley College. I hear I need to get a parking pass to park at the San Jose Institute... How do I get that?
I am looking to attend Santa Clara University and was wondering if many other LDS students attend there. I was also wondering what ward I would be attending as a single SCU student.

We do have a good group of YSA members who attend our institute, with approximately 130 students attending each semester. There are 3-4 institutes in this area (including one at Stanford) with various activities going on every week. There are also several single wards in this area. You might want to visit sometime to get a feel for the different institutes and YSA groups in Northern California. Feel free to call or visit to get more information. Please email SanJoseCA@ldsces.org or call 408.286.3313.

Yes, the San Jose Institute does cover all of those going to San Jose area schools, although there are also institutes located in Cupertino and Saratoga to give everyone more choices. The best thing to do about housing is to come to the institute. Then you can meet other students and also post a housing request sign on the bulletin board for other students to see. Let us know if we can help with anything further.

There are several singles wards/branches in the south bay area: 1. Washington Square Branch (meets here at the Institute 11am-1pm. San Jose Stake). 2. Mount Hamilton Branch - (Located on White and Patt in East San Jose.) 3. Almaden 3rd Ward (6625 Camden Ave., San Jose meets at 1:00 - Sacrament Meeting is last - San Jose South Stake.) 4. Monta Vista Ward (Saratoga Stake) 5. Several Stanford wards. 6. In Morgan Hill (Ensign Ward) 7. Ocean Branch in Santa Cruz.

Our director, David Bohn, is a registered proctor.

There is one singles ward in the area that has a housing list. We haven't checked it lately, but you can try emailing: montavistahousing@yahoo.com. There are also some postings on www.ysa.net Otherwise, we have a board here at the institute that you can check when you come to the area. Best wishes--San Jose Institute
I heard that Institute class members are given parking passes for the garage next to the institute. Is this true? and if so, how do we get these parking passes?
The parking garage is attached to our Institute building. Come into our office on the 3rd floor Monday-Thursday and we can set you up with a parking pass. Parking passes are for College students or Young Single Adults (ages 18-30) who enroll in an Institute class and maintain 75% attendance.

You can contact the San Jose Institute director, David Bohn, at bohndm@ldsces.org.

Brittany, Depending where you will live, you will most likely attend the Washington Square Branch located at the San Jose Institute. 66 S. 7th Street San Jose, CA 95112 You will want to enroll in a San Jose Institute class in order to meet the most LDS YSA in the area. We usually have around 120 students enroll in the San Jose Institute each semester. Look Forward to having you here, Brother Bohn
