DETAILS
Location & Parking
The Institute building is located at the corner of Brattle Street and Longfellow Park in Cambridge, near Harvard Square. The three young single adult wards serving the Boston area also all meet in the building. Weekday parking is severely limited. Metered parking exists on Brattle Street, but other street parking is restricted to those with Cambridge resident permits. Longfellow Park requires permits until 6 p. m., after which the few spaces are filled quickly. Sunday street parking is free at meters and does not require permits.
Public Transportation (T) Directions
To get to the Institute by public transportation (the best and most popular way), take the T (subway) to the Harvard stop on the Red Line. There two exits from the train platform, so follow signs for "Church Street" exit. At the turnstiles, go the right and up the stairs to the street. You will be facing "The Body Shop" walk straight ahead to the right of the store and you will walking down Church Street. At the end of Church Street, turn right onto Brattle Street. We are a red brick building on the left side of the road, across the street from the Longfellow National Historic Site.
Housing & Roommates
The singles wards coordinate housing at http://housing.justlists.org for shared apartments with LDS roommates. For a private apartment, boston.com and boston.craigslist.org have been very helpful to our members. Also, most colleges and universities have additional listings available to their students. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts website at www.mass.gov offers useful information on renter's rights.
Young Single Adult Wards
The Boston area is served by four young single adult wards. Three covering the urban area and most suburbs meet in the same building as the Institute, at 4 Longfellow Park in Cambridge. All are part of the Cambridge MA Stake (even if you live in the boundaries of the Boston or Hingham stakes). The University Ward serves those 18-24 (generally undergraduates), the Longfellow Park First & Second Wards serve those older, divided by where you live. For details, visit their websites by searching the Cambridge MA Stake on lds.org. The Heritage Park Ward in Lowell, MA serves those who live in the geographic boundaries of the Nashua NH Stake. For details, visit the Nashua NH Stake on lds.org.
Married Wards
Five stakes serve the Eastern Massachusetts. If you live in the city of Boston or its west suburbs (including Worcester), you are most likely in the Boston MA Stake. If you live in the city of Cambridge or the north suburbs, you are most likely in the Cambridge MA Stake. If you live in the city of Quincy or the south suburbs, you are most likely in the Hingham MA stake. Some suburbs in the northwest are in the Nashua NH stake, and some north suburbs are in the Exeter NH stake. Visit the stake/ward section of lds.org for more information. The Boston area also has wards and branches conducted in Haitian Creole, Spanish, and Portuguese.
