Technology Mediated Instruction
Brigham Young University Idaho
Funding Goal:   $1 Million

What It Is
While the administration generally anticipates the technological needs of the university, Technology Mediated Instruction provides a welcome ability to respond to inevitable yet surprising advancements through the years. It helps satisfy an ongoing need to improve technological resources and encourage the competency of students at BYU—Idaho.

Why It Is a Priority
Educators at BYU—Idaho recognize the fundamental value of computer technology as it creates better instructional means and methods; however, they also understand that this technology is both vital and volatile, demanding constant maintenance and upgrading. To effectively prepare students for employment requires a costly incorporation and upkeep of appropriate computer-aided technology. This effort emphasizes the need for gifts of both cash and new equipment to the university, and is aimed at increasing the availability of these systems to both faculty and students.

What It Does and How It Helps
President Bednar has said: "Technology can and should play a supporting and complementing role in our work of educating. If we are wise, we will learn to use technology and the other advancements at our disposal to greatly enhance both the opportunities for and effectiveness of our ‘one by one’ teaching.”

Students can gain from the combination of the traditional caring nature of teachers at BYU–Idaho and the technologically advanced systems accessible to them. Without such systems, however, many students will leave BYU–Idaho inadequately prepared to compete for meaningful placement in the job market.

Your gift in support of the ever-expanding technological needs at BYU–Idaho will provide significant equipment, ensure that the university’s inventory of computers is properly maintained, and help to judiciously replace or upgrade obsolete hardware and software as needed. Ultimately, you will have a part in giving BYU–Idaho students the technologically competitive tools they need to graduate more fully prepared to meet the demands of the future.
