Serving One Another
Gospel Art Picture Kit
The life of Jesus Christ is a wonderful example of service to others. He taught us to love one another and to show kindness without thinking of a reward (see Matthew 6:1–4).
During His mortal ministry Jesus taught His followers to value service and reach out to those in need. In the parable of the sheep and the goats, He explains that He will bless those who feed the hungry, welcome strangers, clothe the naked, and visit the sick. He promises that our charitable acts will never go unnoticed, because “inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40; see also Matthew 25:35–39).
When we are willing to share and show kindness to others, we help our Savior. Many times others’ prayers are answered through our willingness to serve. We should listen to the promptings of the Spirit so we will know where the Lord wants us to offer our help.
