“Chapter 33: The Rich Young Man,”

One day a young man came to Jesus. The young man was very rich. He asked Jesus what he should do to get to heaven.

Jesus told him to obey God’s commandments. Jesus said the young man should not kill. He should not lie or steal. Jesus told him to love his father and mother. The rich young man said he always obeyed those commandments.

Jesus loved the young man. He wanted to help him. Jesus said the young man needed to do one more thing. He must sell everything and give the money to the poor people and follow Jesus. Then he could go to heaven.

The rich young man was very sad. He did not want to give away everything he had. He loved his money more than he loved God. He left Jesus.
|

|
Jesus told his disciples it is hard for a rich man to go to heaven. The disciples did not understand. They asked who can live with God. Jesus said people who loved God can live with him. Men must love God with all their hearts. Then they will go to heaven.
