One day Jesus was at the Sea of Galilee. He was teaching the people. He was in a boat. A man named Peter was with him. The boat was Peter’s. Peter and his friends had fished all night. They did not catch any fish.

Jesus finished teaching the people. He told Peter to take the boat into the deep water. Peter did what Jesus said. Then Jesus told Peter to put his fish nets in the water. Peter obeyed Jesus.

Peter and his friends put their fishnets in the water. The nets filled up with fish. The nets got so full they began to break.

Peter called to his friends in another boat. He asked them to come and help. The men put all the fish in the two boats. The fish filled both boats.

Peter and his friends were surprised. They had many fish. They knew Jesus made this happen.

Peter knelt down by Jesus’ feet. Peter said, “I am a sinner.” He was afraid. But Jesus told Peter not to be afraid.

Peter and his friends took their boats back to the land. Jesus told Peter and his friends to come with him. Two of Peter’s friends were brothers. Their names were James and John. Peter, James, and John left everything they had. They went to help Jesus. Jesus asked other men to come with him too.

Jesus needed twelve leaders for his church. They would be called Apostles. Jesus wanted to choose the right men. He prayed all night. The next morning he chose twelve men to be Apostles. He ordained the twelve men. He gave them the priesthood. He gave them the power to be Apostles.

Jesus sent the Twelve Apostles on missions. They traveled to many cities. The Apostles taught the gospel. They healed people. Then the Apostles came back to tell Jesus what they did.
