Some friends of John the Baptist came to Jesus. They said John the Baptist had been killed. He was killed because he told the king to repent.

When Jesus heard this, he went to the Sea of Galilee to be alone. But many people knew where he was. They came to hear him teach. There were more than five thousand of them.

Jesus taught the people. He taught them all day. He taught them until it was night.

Jesus’ disciples wanted the people to go away. It was time to eat, and the people did not have any food. The disciples wanted them to go buy food.

Jesus told the disciples to feed the people. He told them to look for food. They found one boy with food. He had five loaves of bread and two fish.

Jesus told all the people to sit down. Jesus blessed the bread and the fish. He broke them in pieces.

The disciples took the pieces of food to the people. The people ate. There was more than enough food for all of them. This was a miracle.
