Wildcard Searches

The LDS.org search tool allows the use of two wildcards: an asterisk (*) and a question mark (?). An asterisk represents zero or more characters, while a question mark represents one character.

Asterisk

As an example, if you enter the search term "priest*" your results could include the words "priest," "priests," "priestly," "priesthood," "priestcraft," and so on. If you are performing an advanced search in which you specify an author's name, you could enter "Har*" and you would receive results for authors such as Hartley, Harmer, Harbertson, and so on.

Question Mark

As an example, if you enter the search term "wom?n" you will receive results that include both "woman" and "women." If you are performing an advanced search in which you specify an author's name, you could enter "Jens?n" and receive results for authors with the name Jensen or Jenson.
