Do You Have a Story to Tell?

The Ensign welcomes submissions that show the gospel of Jesus Christ at work in your life. Although we welcome the opportunity to review all work, we are currently looking for members’ experiences with the following topics:

Blessings of Senior Missionary Service

Are you a senior missionary whose service has blessed the lives of your posterity, particularly in encouraging missionary work? Do you have a parent or grandparent who has served or is serving a mission? How is their service influential and inspiring in your life? Please share your experiences with the Ensign. Submit your story.

Family Home Evening Ideas

Do you have a particularly memorable family home evening? Has your family had a memorable lesson that helped to teach a gospel principle, particularly one that others could replicate? Submit your story.

General Conference

Receiving guidance and direction from the leaders of the Church every six months at general conference is a powerful blessing for members of the Church. The Ensign invites you to share your ideas and experiences relating to any of the following:

How you prepare for general conference beforehand.

What experiences you have with receiving direction for your life during general conference.

How you make conference meaningful for your whole family, particularly for children or teens.

What you decide to do differently in your life based on counsel your hear and feel.

How reviewing the addresses by listening, watching, or reading the talks helps you delve deeper into the teachings of conference.

How you share your experience with others in your family or associates within or outside the Church.

Any other experiences or thoughts you have relating to general conference.

Submit your story.

Learning, Doing, Becoming, Sharing

Can you tell us about a time you had a powerful experience learning about a particular gospel principle such as faith, prayer, or tithing? Please tell us how you were introduced to it and how your understanding increased. Please describe the process of learning about the principle, then acting on it, then becoming converted to it, then sharing your testimony of it with others. Submit your story.

Literacy

Have you received help from someone in improving your reading or writing skills? Have you offered such help to someone else? Please tell us about your experience and how the ability to read and write has brought you or others to the Savior. Submit your story.

Spontaneous Testimony

In the April 2010 General Conference, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said, “Imagine . . . a family home evening in which children are invited and expected to come prepared to ask questions about what they are reading and learning in the Book of Mormon—or about an issue that recently was emphasized in a gospel discussion or spontaneous testimony in the home.” How has your family implemented these ideas in your family home evenings? Please tell us about your successes or challenges. Submit your story.

This list highlights only some of the current needs of the magazine. We also welcome submissions on other topics. For general information, please see the Ensign writers’ guidelines. Word count on all submissions should be between 500 and 2,000 words.

Please send your submissions to ensign@ldschurch.org or Ensign Editorial, 50 E. North Temple Street, Room 2420, Salt Lake City, UT 84150-3220, USA. Include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, ward (or branch), and stake (or district). Due to the volume of submissions, we cannot acknowledge receipt.
