Conference Experiences

“Conference Experiences”

Comments sent to the New Era about general conference.

General conference is amazing every year, I can always feel the Spirit. But this year the talk that impressed me the most was by Jeffrey R. Holland when he talked about how true the Book of Mormon is. You could see in his eyes and hear it in his voice how he knew that the Book of Mormon was true. Then when he declared to the WORLD that he knows that the Book of Mormon is true, I felt the Spirit so strongly that it made me wonder, is my testimony of the Book of Mormon strong enough to proclaim to the world that it is true? Could I proclaim it to my country? My state? My town? Or even my high school without being embarrassed? I realized that I couldn’t and then made it my goal to be able to proclaim to the world that the Book of Mormon is true.
Whitney A., 14, Oregon

Our TV wouldn’t show conference, so we watched it on the Internet. On Saturday, after the first session, my family went on a hike but didn’t get back until halfway through the second session. I was sad that I had missed some of conference, but then I figured out that I could start that session over. So I had the opportunity to watch all of it. I felt the Spirit so strongly and I was glad I could watch conference.
Holland S., 15, Wyoming

I had lots of fun watching conference. I also had a lot of spiritual moments. My most spiritual moment was during the priesthood session. President Monson gave a really good talk on how he doesn’t want us to be angry all the time.
Austin C., 12, Wyoming

I was so greatly inspired by the words of the General Authorities. I felt like they had been intended for me personally, but I knew that the Lord was inspiring the theme of the conference: love and service. I love being able to gather as members and listen to the important heedings in which the Lord gives to us. I have gained a stronger testimony of the gospel, and I am so grateful for all that I have been given.
Alexa P., 18, New Mexico

Very powerful. Loved it. It brought such a strong and spiritual feeling to our home. I also was very touched by Elder Holland’s testimony of the Book of Mormon. I could tell that he knew what he was talking about and that it was completely true. Thank you.
Whitney S., 14, Utah

General conference was really cool for me this year, because of all the wake-up calls I got. My life is really busy, so it’s easy to forget what I need to do. I had a chance to rededicate myself. I also liked how the doctor who spoke had a personal story to share. I always thought that the General Authorities were so perfect, and it was cool to see that they are real people too. It made me respect them even more.
Melanie K., California

I thought general conference taught me a lot about how to love my family. I learned that I can’t just say “I love you”—I have to show it in my actions.
Marissa S., Colorado

This was my first time to a general conference priesthood session. I was exited to spend time with my dad to learn about the priesthood and the gospel. He told me to get a pencil before we left for the stake building. When we arrived, he handed me paper and said that if I had any experiences with the Holy Ghost, referring to the talks of the First Presidency and other speakers. I decided to take notes as well. I got a whole lot more out of the priesthood session than I would have if I hadn’t.
Miles R., 12, Washington

Talk about spiritually recharged! This conference was an eye-opener for me and a testimony-builder. The apostles and prophet talked about how we need to apply what we learned in conference to our life, so this week I’ve been working on my “ity” virtues (charity, generosity, spirituality, civility, etc.), and I’ve been trying to listen to President Monson by serving my family and others in the ways that I can, because the conference inspired me to act. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland’s testimony of the Book of Mormon was powerful. Elder Scott enlightened my understanding of spiritual communication, which he explained is 1. the inspiration to know what to do and 2. the power to do it. Another element that stood out to me was what President Uchtdorf said, that God is love, so we get closer to God by loving others and loving God, and we show our love to God by keeping His commandments. I loved the songs that were played at general conference too. Music definitely has a power to bring the Spirit and contrarily drive it away, like For the Strength of Youth emphasizes. “Have I Done Any Good” (p. 223) stood out to me out of all the hymns because it also reminds me that I know the gospel truths. Now I have to apply them to my life by acting on them. I have a testimony that President Monson is a prophet of God and that the Apostles, Seventies, and other church leaders are indeed called of God and that their words at general conference were the words Heavenly Father wanted all of us to hear. I learned a lot and am thankful for the special spirit of general conference. As President Monson said, “We’re all in this together.” It’s comforting to know that there are lots of people out there that share the same morals, standards, and virtues and that we really are in this together.
Bethany W., 17, Florida

I really love conference and I get excited every time it comes around. I am grateful for the testimonies of those who spoke and their willingness to give their lives to God’s work and purposes. A specific talk that touched me was Elder Jeffery R. Holland’s. I felt the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and I knew that he knew what he said he knew. Conference refills my spiritual cup and reminds me that God’s work is bigger than me.
Bethany A., 14, Arizona

I paid more attention to conference this time because my seminary teacher gave us an assignment to take notes on the talks. This helped me pay more attention and apply to my life. I was really inspired by President Monson’s talk on service that had the warm fuzzies. In fact, the next day in seminary, my best friend used his talk for her devotional and now we have a warm fuzzies jar.
Samantha B., 15, Idaho

I went to the church to watch conference on a projector that made a large image. Meanwhile, I recorded lots of Jeffrey R. Holland’s talk. I had a notebook for it.
Jonathan H., 11, Arizona

I really enjoyed conference. The talks were very inspired. It helped renew my desire to keep doing what’s right.
Name Withheld, 17, Idaho

I really liked general conference this year. I knew that what the speakers were saying were true and could feel the Holy Ghost when I was ready to listen. I loved President Monson’s talk on the “warm fuzzies.” I am going to be excited to read the conference talks again.
Autumn W., 12, Utah

Listen…

Listen for His voice
When the wind blows through the trees.
Listen for His voice
When the waves form from the seas.

Listen for His voice
When the sun moves cross the sky.
Listen for His voice
When a bird takes off to fly.

Listen for His voice
When your laughter fills the air.
Listen for His voice
When someone shows you that they care.

Listen for His voice
When you serve someone with love.
Listen for His voice
When you pray to him above.

Listen for His voice
When you’re tired out and worn.
Listen for His voice
When a child has been born.

Listen for His voice
When you want to know the truth.
Listen for His voice
As you serve throughout your youth.

Listen for His voice
As you journey through this life.
Listen for His voice,
He will lead you through your strife.

Listen for His voice
When your trials get to tough.
Listen for His voice
When you think you’ve had enough.

Listen for his voice
When He speaks into your heart.
Listen for His voice,
’Cause He loves you from the start.

(Inspired by October 2009 general conference, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf)
Amber C., 15, Utah

I thoroughly enjoyed the talk from President Monson. I feel that we need to have a lot more “warm fuzzies” in our lives. I hope that we can all give more service in our communities, wards, stakes, and world.
Kate R., 14, Utah

I feel so grateful to live in this time and day, where I can hear the prophets of God speak. It fills me with the Spirit every time I listen, and I know that it is truly a message from God. I especially loved President Uchtdorf’s talk Saturday morning. If we can but know that we are children of God and that He loves us and cares for each of us individually, we would never doubt our eternal purpose in life.
Ashlie S., 14, Utah

I really enjoyed general conference. All of the talks were so amazing! My two favorites though were President Packer’s and Elder Holland’s. I love how President Packer said that no matter who you are, or what you have done, you can always pray. This really stood out to me, because sometimes I feel like Heavenly Father doesn’t care whether or not I pray and that He couldn’t possibly want to listen to my insignificant problems. But He does! I also loved Elder Holland’s powerful testimony on the Book of Mormon. You could just feel the Spirit so strongly as he spoke.
Amanda R., 15, Idaho

I really liked coming home, sitting down on the couch, watching conference with my family, and learning who I am and trying to be strong. I just entered a big step: Junior High—seventh grade. This conference really helped me think about how to act and stay strong and be prepared for the dreaded teens, and also the big choices to make.
Lizzie R., 12, Utah

I absolutely loved conference. It really strengthened my testimony. I enjoyed hearing the talks about family. It’s great to learn about it. I remember the wonderful feeling I get when I hear a great talk. It’s the same feeling I get when I’m reading my scriptures and studying the gospel. It’s the Spirit testifying to me of the truthfulness of this gospel. I love it. =)
Rae W. 15, Georgia

I enjoyed it very much watching it on my television. I was inspired by Elder Holland’s talk and when he showed the congregation the very scriptures that Hyrum Smith read from. That was sure amazing when someone still has something that is more that 150 years old!
Meise P., 18, American Samoa

I loved conference. It gave me a great feeling, and I know that the Holy Ghost was there.
Emma L 13, Washington

General conference was particularly enjoyable for me this year, and I think one of the reasons is that I’m older and understand more. But during conference one of the things that stood out to me most was President Monson’s talk urging us to participate in more acts of service, something I regret to admit I'm not too good about. Another thing that struck me was the emphasis on the theme of loving your neighbor—again, something I need to improve upon. But as I’ve begun to apply these principles to my daily life, I have been able to enjoy a greater share of the Spirit and have felt my testimony grow. President Monson is a true prophet ordained of God, and the doctrine of Christ marks the one and only path for us to follow on our way to exaltation. As Sister Dibb exhorted, “Get a grip!”
Mariah S., 16, Minnesota

General conference was a great experience, like always. The weekend before in a bishop youth discussion, our bishop asked us to write down 10 things we had questions about. He promised that those things would be answered in conference. All of mine were. I felt the Spirit so strongly and was able to feel more faithful. I can’t wait for the talks to come in the Ensign so I can read them again.
Andrew O., 16, New Mexico

Elder Holland’s talk was definitely the one I believed held the most fervor and strength of all the speakers. He vehemently proclaimed the Book of Mormon to be true, and it just inspired me to be like him. Can you really say you have a testimony of the Book of Mormon after watching that?? It was so amazing ... it’s hard to explain. My whole family went quiet during his talk, and my heart nearly burst. I couldn’t say at the time that I could defend the Book of Mormon as unwaveringly and as firmly as did, but now I think I’m swiftly on the path there!
Rachel F., 14, Arizona

I really enjoyed conference this year. My seminary teacher gave us some worksheets to fill out while we watched, so I paid more attention than I normally would. I especially enjoyed Elder Holland's talk on the Saturday afternoon session. His testimony of the Book of Mormon was so strong, and I could feel the Spirit very strongly. It left a profound influence on me and strengthened my testimony of the Book of Mormon greatly. I really enjoyed conference.
Samantha O., 15, Colorado

I really loved Elder Holland’s testimony about the Book of Mormon. It really strengthened my testimony to hear him testify so strongly. You can tell that he truly believes. I could really feel the Spirit during his talk.
Maggie K. 14, Indiana

General conference was good but I'm most excited for the Ft. Lauderdale Temple! I live in that area and it will be an amazing blessing to have a temple so close. I’m so glad that our area has been chosen. Also, Jeffry R. Holland’s talk in the last session was very good about how the Book of Mormon IS true. I’m thankful we get to listen to these prophets every six months.
Brian R., 13, Florida

I was inspired and moved during this conference. My very soul was touch I felt the Spirit reach out to me as I seat and watched. I feel that ever talk at some point was meant just for me it was like they knew me and knew what I need to hear. helped remember what I stand for!
Bryanna R., 21, Utah

This was by far the most powerful general conference I have ever watched. I really felt the Spirit and I knew without a doubt that they were all speaking the truth. I just started high school, and when I go to school it is like opening the doors to Babylon. What I learned at general conference gave me peace and I am able to get through the school day a lot better.
Maddison M. 14 , California

My eyes had trouble moving from the screen as the general conference speakers spoke. I am just amazed at the topics they chose to speak of. The messages which they give us makes me feel protected and secure. I look forward for the next conference so I can here more messages from these wonderful leaders.
Charisse R., 14 Maine

Watching conference was so inspiring I can’t explain how warm I felt when I watched it. It was like … no words can explain it. They are truly called of God to testify to us.
Wade J., 19, Idaho

This was the first time since I’ve been a member that I watched an entire general conference with my family. The thirst for knowledge was quenched by every speaker, and a few really touched my heart. Listening to each teaching and testimony brought a stronger love to burn within me for the prophets, seers, and revelators on the earth today. I knew that this conference contributed to giving me strength to strive for higher goals and have a greater confidence in becoming a young woman.
Jonnie B., 18, Arizona

I thought conference was amazing!! I had to write a seminary paper on it so I paid extra attention to it this year and it was awesome. My goal to work on is reading my scriptures and letting the teaching work in my life. Jeffrey R. Holland talked about how people in the Book of Mormon listened to the teachings of the Lord and He brought peace to their minds, hearts, and souls. I think that this will help in my life because if I understand that if I do what I know is right then the Lord will help me through the tough times. I am also going to work on service. Quentin L. Cook said that we don’t do service because we were told to we do it because its what we want to do. I think that I should us this motto in my life more often than I actually do. I loved conference this year and I plan to carry out my goals.
Kelsey R., 14, Wyoming

I loved general conference. I felt the Spirit very strongly throughout both the Saturday and Sunday conference. The talks that stood out to me during the Saturday conference were David A. Bednar and Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s talks. I really felt the Spirit. In David A. Bednar’s talk I like how he said that each family prayer, etc., is a brush stroke to our canvas of our soul. In Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s talk I liked how he talked about becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ. I loved how he quoted the Apostle John who said, “We love Him because He loved us first.” I also loved how President Uchtdorf said that He desires for us to draw near unto Him so He can draw near unto us. It made me realize that I need to strive to do better every day to be a better person, to be a disciple of our Savior. I loved the afternoon session on Saturday because a lot of the apostles spoke of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and the love He has for us. One of my favorite talks on Sunday was by Henry B. Eyring who spoke on becoming like the Savior. I also loved the talk by Jeffrey R. Holland who spoke on the Book of Mormon. I love listening to conference and to the leaders of the Church. It makes me realize how grateful I am for the gospel in my life and how it always makes me feel so happy. After watching conference my first thought was that I wanted to share all these messages with people about the gospel. I am always so touched by conference and I appreciate the leaders of the Church who put so much time and effort into guiding these Latter-Day Saints today.
Kaitlin C., 16, California

Elder Holland’s talk … that stuck out to me. It was so amazing and has truly strengthened my testimony of the Book of Mormon.
NaTosha C., 15, Arizona

I got way more out of it than I usually do. Probably because I went to EFY over the summer and that’s where I learned how to listen and recognize the Spirit’s promptings. I also am in seminary, and I got some questions answered that I was worrying about in my life. All in all, I loved general conference!!!
Alyssa J., 15, Utah

I strongly felt that the most important thing to do is to love our fellowman as much as we can. Nothing else, not pride nor doing expectations, have the same effect as love, and undoubtedly the whole universe revolves around it. We should pursue to do the best for our parents, brothers, and sisters in our family; then we should help our quorum members and fellow Church members; then we should help everyone else.
Parker R., 14, Arizona

I loved the talk by Elder Nielsen on missionary work. I’ve never really planned on serving a mission, and now I am actually considering the option.
Bessie B., 13, Idaho

In high school there are so many temptations and peer pressure that we need to hear spiritual things like we just had the chance to listen to. Conference was very spiritual and uplifting. I hope that others enjoyed it as much as I did.
Jace C., 13, California

I was most excited about the new temple in Brigham City, Utah. I live near there and it is a great feeling to know that the work has progressed in my area to require a new temple.
Charity M., 17, Utah

Some of the topics I noticed were very common in this general conference were love and listening to the Spirit. As I got to thinking about this, I realized it is probably because the world has become so hard hearted and selfish that we must need to love a little more and listen a little better. I also really felt the fire and testimony of President Holland’s talk and really felt uplifted by the music and messages of this conference!
Jannalee R., 17, Utah

Every time we have general conference, I feel so much excitement and anticipation. I love being able to come listen to prophets, seers, and revelators give counsel, love, and inspiration to us all. I feel the Lord’s loving Spirit wrap around my soul and give me the strength to push forward and endure to the end. I’m so grateful for the love I feel when President Monson gets up and bears us his pure and strong testimony. I love all of the talks and the new insights I receive from them. General conference blesses me in every way. Thank you so much.
Carlie S., 15, Idaho

This conference was the one of the more spiritual conferences of my life. I cried, I smiled, I learned, I heard the Apostles of the Savior talk for me and for the all members of the only true Church. They spoke things that we need to come back to our Heavenly Father and live with Him, being perfect. Now my testimony is more firm and more true. I am so grateful for this opportunity to listen to the prophet and the other persons called for God. I love being a member of this Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Brenda S., 16, Brazil

We need to follow the prophet and be kind and more like Jesus. We should all walk away from this conference being a little better.
Savanna C., 12

I really enjoyed general conference. I tried to take notes this time, not just falling asleep! My favorite talk was probably Sis. Ann M. Dibb’s: How to face challenges in our day. I liked the examples of how prayer and scriptures can be our safety equipment, and that the rod of iron is the safety railing we can grab hold of.
Rachel A., 13, Arizona

I was amazed at everything that the General Authorities had to say. I felt like everything that was taught was sent just directly for me. Before conference I prayed to have my heart and mind prepared to hear and apply the things that were taught. I knew that the things I was going to hear would help me prepare to serve the Lord as a missionary in San Jose California. I grew closer to my Savior and have found a greater desire to be a warrior for righteousness in the world we live in today. I was particularly fond of the testimony Elder Jeffrey R. Holland gave about the Book of Mormon. As a member of the Church, let alone as a missionary, I desire to be able to share my testimony with the power that accompanied Elder Holland as he spoke. And I know it can and will if I am worthy of the Holy Ghost. I pray that I will learn to be an example of the believers no matter what situation the Lord puts me in. I know the Church is true, and I’m so very grateful for Prophets and Apostles that lead and guide our Church today! I love conference with all my heart. The Church is true!
Jaiden O., 19, Utah

This was my first general conference being in my YSA branch and it was cool because our branch actually meets in the Institute building. So for all 4 sessions of conference all of the people that I attended were Young Single Adults, as well as the branch presidency. But the best thing was that it wasn’t crowded! There were about 25 or 30 of us on Sunday and about 15 on Saturday since so many people can watch it in their homes via internet or television. And the Branch Presidency even made pancakes for us! It was an awesome experience. It made me feel closer with the branch.
Denali L., 17, Alaska

I watched general conference and there was one message that wad very touching to me. It was President Eyring’s message about how children and teens should honor their father and mother. I liked how he said that even if your parents aren’t alive or don’t get to see you, you should still think of them with respect and love. His message made me think of ways I can improve my relationships with my parents.
Stacey H., 12, Arizona

Attending general conference is always a wonderful experience. This semester I attended the conference in full over the Internet (including the priesthood session) because I’m a bit sick, but it’s still an amazing experience. I particularly liked the talk by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland in the afternoon session on Sunday. Simply edifying!
Diego M., 23, Brazil

It was really amazing, it started and I didn’t want it to stop. Our Young Women leader told us to think I a problem or question we had and see if it was solved while listening to conference, which was really amazing to me.
Emma P., Oregon

General conference was an amazing experience to me. The talk that stood out to me was Elder Holland’s on the Book of Mormon. His testimony of the Book of Mormon was truly inspiring to me. My testimony has grown through this entire conference and I want to be better person and share the gospel with others. I love this gospel and I know that it is true. I felt the Spirit so strong, and I want to be a better person and to strive to harder to be a better servant of my Heavenly Father.
Garret S., 16, Utah

I got the privilege of going to the Saturday afternoon session of general conference. It was an amazing experience! My grandparents and I sat close to the front. I liked all of the talks, but the one that really touched my heart was the talk given by Elder Kent D. Watson. In his talk he told about when a tire popped of a truck, and landed on his windshield. He was safe, because the glass was a special kind of glass.
Allison R., 12, Utah

President Hinckley is the first President of the Church whom I remember, and so the words “prophet” and “President Hinckley” have always been inseparably linked for me. When President Monson was appointed the following President after President Hinckley, I was aware this was in full compliance with procedures of the Church. Nonetheless, I couldn’t quite see President Monson and wholeheartedly identify him as the President of the Church. I was struggling with my testimony regarding President Monson, though I really wanted to believe. Then I saw him giving the final words of this conference and I looked right into his face and I just knew it. He was the one who was supposed to be there. I’m really grateful I was able to watch this October’s general conference.
Camila T., 17, Colombia.

General conference this year had quite the lasting impression on me. They all seemed to be focused around God’s love for us, being able to hear the Holy Ghost, and doing service to others. The one talk that struck me the most was Jeffrey R. Holland’s testimony of the Book of Mormon. He gave me an entire new insight as to how and why the Book of Mormon is true. I loved how he went so into depth to explain how it is true, and how he gave his testimony of how he knows it is true. From this experience of general conference, I have felt my testimony strengthen so much. Now I can read the Book of Mormon with a greater understanding, so that I might be able to gain my own testimony about it. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ spoke through the prophet and his counselors this general conference. They told us of things that we needed to work on in our lives, and also told us of things we needed to avoid. Hopefully, we can all take these words to heart, and act upon them. I know with a greater knowledge from this conference, that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ do exist, and that Jesus died for us because he loved us, and so that we could return to them and live with them after this life. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that I was sent here to earth so I could gain a body and return to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ because of the Atonement. I know that I am a child of God, and I am so very thankful for the knowledge of where I came from and where I am going.
Callie H. 14, Utah

I love general conference so much because you learn a lot from it, and I know you will be blessed by listening to what you need to hear. General conference is very important to me because it helps you to become a great follower of Christ.
Nicole M. 14, Arizona

This year for general conference, I tried very hard to focus on feeling the spirit. I read my scriptures more than usual in the days prior to conference and prayed that I would be able to understand all the messages given in the talks on a more personal level and then in Elder D. Todd Christofferson’s talk, when he said we should all study these words and apply them on a personal level, I thought it was really cool that I was already working on that and that everyone was challenged to do so, and I plan to go over the notes I took and study all of the talks again. This conference was much more spiritually important and meaningful for me.
Heather J., 15, Utah

I think general conference is a great time to just spend time with family and get away from the world. I try to get my homework done before conference so that way, I can listen to the prophet and his counselors. I always love general conference and can’t wait until the next session!
Bailey F., 12, New York

I went to the last session of general conference with some of my extended family. Just being in the same room with all of those amazing people was pretty cool. When the prophet came in and we all stood to welcome him it was amazing how silent and reverent it was, and how we all sat down almost as one. The talks really helped me and did make me go away feeling better then I had before.
Savanna F., 13, Utah

I absolutely loved conference. It is so great to get away from the world and learn so many neat things from the speakers. I also love the amazing spirit that is felt when you listen to them. So many of my prayers are answered during that time. I love conference!
Shayli S., 17, Utah

As a freshman at BYU and never having been to Utah before I came here, this was my first experience with being at conference in person. It was incredible. To be in the same room as the prophet and apostles as well as thousands of people of my faith was humbling. I felt this rush of gratitude for the voice of God on earth. I could sense, almost tangibly, the love those men have for us. I also took a moment to look around and consider the sheer numbers present and consider the great work of Joseph Smith in building the Lord’s kingdom. Represented there was only a fraction of the LDS population, but even those relatively “few” were a fulfillment of his prophecy that the gospel would one day fill the whole earth. Being originally from an area where there are few members of the Church, conference was just one more inspiring and comforting experience of the blessings of being united as Saints.
Katy B., 19, Utah

I was touched by the spirit of this conference. There were so many strong talks given that I can’t exactly remember some of them. But one of them I was touched by the most was the talk given by Elder Holland about the Book of Mormon. I could just feel the power in his voice as he said he knew it was true. That helps me want to strengthen my testimony on the Book of Mormon.
Steven U., 15, Missouri

It felt so good to listen to the prophet and apostles speak. I took up my seminary teacher’s challenge to pray that I might get the answers to my questions and problems from general conference. When I was listening, I gained a totally different outlook! I could feel the Holy Spirit testify to me that these men are inspired of God, and that if I listen, then I will know what I need to do to achieve eternal happiness!
Spencer O., 14, Nevada

Sadly, I missed the Saturday conferences. Today I went to the first session at my church and it was skipping because of some satellite problems, so I didn’t get much of the message. I loved the afternoon session though—it was one of the best I’ve ever seen! I especially liked the talk that Jeffrey R. Holland made. It was so assuring to hear his testimony and it made me ponder a lot.
Natalia D., 13, New York

I was amazed by Elder Holland’s strong declaration of his testimony of the Book of Mormon. His words of the truthfulness and his feelings for the Book of Mormon are forever etched in my mind. How grateful I am for prophets and apostles that speak to us so that we don’t have to wander in darkness.
Claire C., 14, Washington

I really liked the last session because it talked a lot about missionary work. I also loved that President Monson talked quite a bit.
Veronica H. 13, Utah

General conference was great! It’s always great hearing from prophets and learning from them!
Dallin B., 18, Georgia

I really liked Elder Holland’s talk about the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith, how it came forth and that the book is true.
Jeff W., 28, Utah

I loved this conference. Elder Holland’s talk was so amazing and passionate and emotional! Elder Bednar’s talk made so much sense to me. Also, the analogy used about the change of heart and heart replacement surgery was so cool. I can hardly wait for next conference!
Lisa T.,16, Utah

My family is one of very few in our building who doesn’t have cable TV. So every year we drive down to the church and watch conference on the projector. It’s a good experience for me because we dress up in church clothes since we’re in the chapel, which makes me pay better attention. I enjoy conference every year. We always end up having to miss competitions, soccer games, dance clinics, etc., but it’s always worth it. I love seeing all the people that attend and listening to our Church leaders. We always jokingly try to find my sisters out in the crowd when we know they are there. We haven’t seen them yet. :) We have great opportunities to attend and view these kind of things and I am grateful for it.
Becca B., 14, Oregon

Conference this year was so wonderful for me because I got to take a few hours away from the world to focus on what my Heavenly Father would have me learn and remember in order to uplift and strengthen my own life. I really needed that at this exact moment and time.
Brooke L., 17, Massachusetts

I was lucky enough to come across four tickets and a parking pass to Sunday morning’s session of conference. My two older brothers, me, and a local missionary were able to go together. My favorite talk was Sister Dibb’s talk. She spoke directly to my heart about the Lehi’s dream and holding fast to the rod of iron. It reminded me of a few hard times I had had in the last school year. I was also reminded about the joy and peace I felt when I began to trust in the Lord and cling to the gospel. Those thoughts stayed with me the rest of the session. With these feelings still fresh in my mind, I sadly left but was excited to tell my family about it. As I walked back to the spot where we had parked our car there was a man yelling out at the crowd telling us that we weren’t good enough for God. That he didn’t love us and we were nothing. I wanted to scream back to him that I know Heavenly Father loves me, and that everyone is good enough, and everyone is worthy of his love if we are willing to feel it. I was yet again reminded that I didn’t feel worth it last year either, and yet again I was reminded of the peace that was given to me when I simply prayed and asked for help. I was comforted and I bear my testimony that God does love us, and he knows our problems. He will help us as long as we come unto him, and accept it.

I did a whole YW project on general conference. I think it really helped me to listen better, and I learned a ton! I loved Elder Holland and Elder Uchtdorf’s talks.

I liked sister Dibb’s talk. She was right, We have so many marvelous things we just choose not to use them. I also liked how President Eyring spoke of love and how we need to pray to love each other. And I also liked when President Monson shared the story of how all the children did acts of service, for his wish. That was so sweet. I loved the “warm fuzzy” idea.

Conference is one of the most special blessings that we receive. As I talked with my family I was amazed at how we all had heard and remembered such different things from one another. Conference is a great time and place for personal revelation and guidance. It is a spiritual feast and healing that we all need so very much. I am so thankful for the blessing I had of watching and hearing the beautiful messages and feeling such an amazing spirit.

I really enjoyed Elder Bednar’s talk about consistency. I have often found this difficult in my life and he really made me feel motivated. I absolutely loved being able to hear so many apostles and the prophet speak and I honestly learned a lot that I wouldn’t normally think of.
Heather B., 13, Tennessee

I don’t know what it was, but this general conference was the best I have ever experienced. The Spirit was so strong, and I got answers to questions that I had. I especially loved Elder Holland’s talk. I could feel his earnestness in conveying to us his feelings about the gospel, and I felt his love for the truth as though he was in the very Stake Center that I was in. As the choir and congregation sang “We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet,” I felt something start burning in my heart, and I knew without a doubt that he was the prophet. I am so grateful for this Church, and for the peace it brings to me, and to all who sincerely ask, seek, and knock.

I loved the talk Thomas S. Monson gave about doing at least one good turn a day. It made me realize to put others first before myself.
Rachel T., 15, Oregon

President Mosnson’s talk just touched me on how many people do service. I want to try to do service every day just like the man’s dad would ask him every day at the dinner table, “What have you done to help someone else today?” I want to ask myself that question every day too. My family is even thinking about getting a warm fuzzies jar :)

General conference was pretty amazing. I really loved Elder Holland’s talk on the Book of Mormon. He shared such an amazingly powerful testimony that I could not help but be engulfed by the Spirit. He’s such an amazing speaker.
Alex H., 15, Texas

I loved this conference because I was able to receive personal answers to my questions. There had been a question in mind as I came into conference, and in the first talk given by Richard G. Scott, my question was answered. I love how the Lord works through His servants to answer your questions and concerns because He cares about you and how you feel.
Brianna H., 17, Utah

Hello New Era. Although I’m not a member of the LDS Church, I thought the general conference was amazing and had a very good message that everyone across the world should listen to.
Chaylan J., 15, Texas

I usually have a hard time listening to general conference, but this year it was easier. I felt like I could relate more. Maybe it is because I am now a youth and feel like they are speaking especially to me at some times. I especially liked President Monson’s talk at the end of the Sunday morning session. It really spoke to me and I now have a whole new perspective on service.
Katie H., 12, Virginia

I love general conference! I love listening to the General Authorities share their wisdom with us. It is so wonderful to be able to feel the Spirit for a whole weekend. I took notes this year, and it really helped me focus and learn much more. I can’t wait for April!
Mckenna G., 15, New Hampshire

Elder Holland’s talk was completely amazing. It was the most powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon I’ve ever heard, and he said it so fearlessly, so boldly, and so truthfully I couldn’t help but feel that the Spirit was telling me it was true during his entire talk. I’m so glad for priesthood leaders that guide us at all times and tell us what we need to do to make our lives better.
Sariah W., 16, Nevada

This general conference was amazing!! I loved every bit of it. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was amazing! Every speaker was wonderful! I especially loved President Eyring’s talk, and Elder Holland’s. I learned new things I need to work on and to share a lot more love! I can’t wait until six more months for the next general conference!

I loved general conference this year! I enjoyed listening to all the talks, but I especially loved President Monson’s talk on service and President Uchtdorf’s talk on love. They both really hit home to me. I remember when I was listening to President Monson’s talk, I was thinking about how in seminary on his birthday our teacher challenged us to “spread some sunshine” in someone’s life, and it made my day when I served, and I know it made others’ days. It really makes me feel good when I know I’m following the prophet.
Kristi H., 14, Utah

I look forward to general conference each year. I love it because it gives me a chance to hear from the prophet of the Lord and other General Authorities. This year I was particularly interested in President Monson’s talk about service to others. It made me want to get up and do something for someone else right that minute. I am going to work harder to do more service this year. I really enjoyed all of general conference.
Brooke L., 13, Utah

General conference helped me more than any other time. I’ve always watched and noted the speakers and their topics, but since this is my first general conference in seminary, this time was the first that I was ever really serious about learning from it. We were told in seminary that if we made a list of questions or concerns we had before conference, that those topics would be touched on and our questions answered during conference. I did this, and took notes with each speaker. Any time a speaker talked about something that pertained or answered one of my questions, I would write their name under the question. At the end of conference, there wasn’t a single question without a name by it, and most had several. One of my favorite talks was the one by Jeffrey R. Holland. I loved how you could tell that he really truly meant what he said, and that he really knew that the Book of Mormon was true.
Emi W., 14, Utah

General conference was one of the most spiritual experiences I have ever had in my life. My seminary teacher challenged us to write down some questions we wanted answers to and I did. It was eerie how perfectly and exactly they were answered. I was told what I needed to hear. The music was amazingly fabulous too! “O Divine Redeemer” gave me chills; I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Its message was exactly the way my soul was crying out. Overall, it was a very good conference weekend, I would say.
Alisha H., 15, Arizona

I really liked it that President Monson talked about how he appreciated the music. I always seem to be affected more and learn more from music. I love all the general conference music.

Lately I’ve been striving to feel and recognize the Spirit more in my life. In the past it has sometimes been hard for me to feel the promptings of the Spirit, but I didn’t understand why. My seminary teacher suggested to my class right before general conference that instead of just taking notes during the sessions, we could make a line down the middle of the page and title one half “What the Spirit tells me” and the other half “What the speaker says.” This way, he said, we were automatically inviting the Spirit and striving to hear it. I thought this would be a perfect way to practice recognizing those still, small promptings of the Spirit, so on Saturday morning before the morning session I pulled out a notebook and set up the page exactly how my teacher had suggested. Right from the start, I could feel the Spirit. When Richard G. Scott began speaking, I was overjoyed to find that the topic of his talk was feeling the Spirit! And then, as conference went on, many other speakers also had topics centered around the Holy Ghost. I felt and still feel as I reflect back on conference how much Heavenly Father is mindful of me as His daughter. He knew what was on my mind, and He sent the Spirit to teach me. I know I felt the Spirit this weekend at conference, and now, through the instruction of the speakers, I have so many more ways to make my connection with the Holy Ghost even stronger.
Heather H., 15, Utah

I really enjoyed that there were lots of talks on love. I need to work on loving everybody around me no matter what they’re doing or who they are. Lately, I’ve been thinking bad things about people, but now I realized I need to love them even though they have mistakes. I really liked that the speakers mentioned loving God too. It helped me realize to respect Him and do everything in His name. It also helped me realize that I need to respect his name and standards. I really enjoyed these multiple talks on love.
Jamie H, 13, California

I’d been praying about knowing how to have fun and keep my standards high that I know the Lord wants me to have. I heard many things in conference about having joy in life and happiness through the gospel. I know it is more important to live the gospel as much as I can with all my strength and become like Christ. The gospel brings happiness that is everlasting, not momentary. We are happy when we do all we can to become like Christ and we will enjoy life more. He will deepen our joy. I love Him and I know He will bless me and increase my joy as I live the gospel to the best of my ability.
Lori T. 18, Arizona

I am an organist and also love to sing, so the choir parts are some of my favorites. I must say that my favorite part of conference was the Tabernacle Choir singing “O Divine Redeemer.” And I also loved Elder Holland’s thanking of the choir. It truly was the prayer of everyone who listened to it.
Allen B., 16, Wisconsin

My dad and I were able to get into the priesthood session of general conference. It was pretty cool, and it turned out that we sat next to the guy who announces on Music and the Spoken Word. I enjoyed the talks, and when everybody stood up and sang, I felt really good inside, and I was glad that I had gone.
Ryan B., 12, Idaho

I learn so much from general conference when I listen with no distractions for the whole session. I can ponder what I have learned. I think it is very important to pray about what the speakers teach so that you can know that it is true. Some of the answers to your prayers will come from pondering and praying about what you have heard.
Lindsey M., 13, Arizona

Before this conference, I’d been having some trouble with living some of the standards of the Church. As a last grasp, I decided I needed to pray that conference would help inspire me to do better. I listened, I learned, and then when President Monson stood up during the Sunday afternoon session, I felt the Spirit so strongly telling me that it’s never too late to try again, it’s never too late to live better.
Rachel A., 15, Nevada

Elder Holland’s talk was the most powerful general conference talk I have ever heard. After hearing his talk, how could anyone deny the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon? My testimony of the Book of Mormon has been strengthened tremendously, and I’m grateful that we have the opportunity to hear from such admirable and spiritual authorities today.
Lauren C., 15, California

While I was listening I noticed that their were a lot of talks on the Spirit. So I think that was telling me that we need to be more sensitive to the Spirit and take more time to listen for the Spirit.
Taushalyn S., 14, Idaho

These words are really what God wants me to know! The speakers aren’t just smart people who are guessing, and the messages aren’t just words written long ago. This is revelation given from God to us, for me to use in my life today!
Andrew S., 17, Arizona

Conference was overall amazing! All of the inspired Church leaders come to give us righteous messages. On Saturday I thought the talks were more focused on love and the Holy Ghost. When some of the speakers talked about the Holy Ghost, they included personal revelation. I have been thinking about my patriarchal blessing, so this has helped my understand more of how the Spirit works with me. I know the Church is true and I hope I never forget it.
Kelsey F., 14, Washington

I really enjoyed this conference. I feel like I was well prepared to hear the prophets speak. Because I was prepared, I felt the Spirit touch me. I was able to learn what I personally need to do in order to keep that spirit of revelation with me always.
Caleb W., 15, Utah

I really looked forward to it this year! I think that it really made me think about habits like prayer and reading the scriptures that I need to work on more. It was a great reminder of what is important.
