Church History in Cuba
November 7, 2001 — Church in the News
Cuban Church history is unique from that of other countries. It all began when a Cuban woman married a Ukrainian and then moved to Ukraine. While in Ukraine, she was converted to the Church. Later, this woman and her daughter returned to Cuba and taught the gospel to friends. "Only 12 members of the Church of Jesus Christ live in Havana. Between 15 and 20 investigators also attend meetings," said Ted Lyon, a BYU professor of Spanish. This may be due to the spirit of generosity and kindness that is embedded in Cuban culture today.
