Facts about the Montreal Quebec Temple

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

What: The Montreal Quebec Temple is the 86th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple has approximately 10,700 square feet of floor space and includes a celestial room, two endowment rooms seating 40 people in each room, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry. The exterior is Bethel white granite. The spire is topped by a gold statue of the angel Moroni (Mo-RONE-eye).
Where: The temple is located in the south shore area of Montreal in the town of Longueuil. The mailing address is 1450 Boulevard Marie-Victorin, Longueuil, Quebec.
Why: The temple is considered a "house of the Lord" where the Savior's teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism, and other sacred ordinances focusing on the eternal potential of family relationships.
When:

Plans for the temple were announced August 16, 1998, by the First Presidency of the Church. Groundbreaking services were held April 10, 1999.

A public open house will be held Saturday, May 20, 2000, through Saturday, May 27, 2000, excluding Sunday, May 21. Tours on Monday, May 22, will conclude at 5:00 P.M. The temple will be formally dedicated Sunday, June 4, 2000.

Who: The temple will primarily serve more than 12,200 Latter-day Saints in parts of Quebec, Ontario, Vermont, and New York.
