Facts about the Nashville Tennessee Temple

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

What: The Nashville Tennessee Temple is the 84th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple has approximately 10,700 square feet of floor space and includes a celestial room, two endowment rooms seating 40 people in each room, two sealing rooms, and a baptistry. The exterior is white Imperial Danby marble. The spire is topped by a gold statue of the angel Moroni (Mo-RONE-eye).
Where: The temple is located in the Franklin area of Nashville, Tennessee. The mailing address is 1100 Gray Fox Lane, Franklin, Tennessee, 27064.
Why: The temple is considered a "house of the Lord" where the Savior's teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism, and other sacred ordinances focusing on the eternal potential of family relationships.
When:

Plans for the temple were announced November 9, 1994, by the First Presidency of the Church. Groundbreaking services were held MarchÊ13, 1999.

A public open house will be held Saturday, May 6, 2000, through Saturday, May 13, 2000, excluding Sunday, May 7, 2000. The temple will be formally dedicated Sunday, May 21, 2000.

Who: The temple will primarily serve more than 23,000 Latter-day Saints in parts of Kentucky and Tennessee.
