A New Way to Share Pass-Along Cards

Members have been provided with a new way to share the gospel using pass-along cards. Those who have businesses, offices, or stores frequented by the public can now display pass-along cards using new upright displays that are available for purchase through Church distribution centers.

Priesthood leaders can use the portable displays in meetinghouses to make pass-along cards more accessible to all members to use in sharing the gospel.

The displays can also be used by missionaries to make an immediate contact with business owners by asking them to agree to place the display in their store, and with additional contacts from the traffic through those businesses—people they may not have otherwise come in contact with. The display provides a visual presence in locations where the pass-along card can be picked up voluntarily.

Each display holds a stack of pass-along cards with a toll-free number printed on the back. When the number is called, an operator invites the caller to have the gift delivered by missionaries who will share a message about Jesus Christ. If the person prefers not to be visited, the item is mailed.

Elder Richard G. Scott, a member of the Missionary Executive Council, said: “We have found that pass-along cards are an easy way for members to invite those who are not of our faith to learn more about the restored gospel. They are an effective tool for members and missionaries all across the world. We anticipate that these displays will make pass-along cards more readily available to those who would be blessed by hearing the gospel.”

There are several different pass-along cards, each offering a different item. A popular one offers the Finding Faith in Christ video or DVD. Eight other pass-along cards feature the King James Bible, the Book of Mormon, the videos Family Answers, Joy to the World, Lamb of God, and Together Forever, the booklet Three Simple Ways to Become a Happier Family, and the http://www.mormon.org Web site.

Since their approval in February 2005, the upright displays have been used to distribute many pass-along cards. The displays available for purchase include a one-pocket paper display, acrylic displays, and a solid oak wooden holder, ranging in price from U.S. $8.55 for a package of 24 paper displays to $17.30 for an oak display. The wooden holder is recom¬mended for meetinghouses.
