Igor Gruppman

Igor Gruppman enjoys international critical acclaim as a soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist. He serves as a frequent guest leader of such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic, and has worked with conductors such as Solti, Rostropovich, Colin Davis, Eschenbach, Gatti, and Haitink. He has recorded Miklós Rózsa’s Sinfonia Concertante for Koch International Classics, Hector Berlioz’s “Reverie and Caprice on Naxas,” and the Rozen Violin Concerto for Koch, which marked the first release of the concerto since the recording by Heifetz.

Igor Gruppman is a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with Leonid Kogan and Mstislav Rostropovich. He then studied with Jasha Heifetz in Los Angeles. He has collaborated with such artists as Sviatoslav Richter, Yuri Bashmet, Natalia Gutman, Oleg Kagan, Jaime Laredo, and Lynn Harrell. He currently serves as the distinguished artist in residence at Brigham Young University, associate conductor for the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, and co-concertmaster of the Orchestra at Temple Square.
