Front elevation of the Nauvoo TempleWilliam Weeks (18131900) Ink on paper, 1846 The general architectural style of the temple reflects the New England background of Joseph Smith and early Church members, including the architect. William Weeks was born in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Weeks was trained by his father in the New England classical style of architecture. Only a few of his drawings and technical sketches of the temple remain. They were useful references for the recent rebuilding of the temple. Courtesy Church Archives |
