"Barns are part of the surroundings–they belong! I love to draw them. I not only want to get the correct sense of light, but to get the spirit, and that is what interests me in painting. I want to get the spirit of intrigue of a barn. Here they are allowed to go grey. In the fall they become part of the color scheme to which I am very sensitive. This is all part of my landscape."
