"The [Manti] temple itself was incredibly white in the sun, and beautifully proportioned, lying against a higher hill which was rocky and massed wth evergreens. She had heard of people from Outside who wondered how the Saints had achieved this rightness of both temple and situation, and she had heard Brigham Young's comment given in answer, a comment meant elsewhere but applied naturally here many years later: 'Is God not an artist and an architect as well as an artisan?'"

Virginia Sorensen, 1946
