Recently at the Buduburam Liberian Refugee Camp, representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided two new and functioning water wells. Samuel S. Faiths Unite to Promote Family Values — Deseret Morning News / Additional story
Healthy families where children grow up feeling loved, learning responsibility, showing respect, and giving service are the basis of a healthy society, and mothers undergird the strength of such homes. That was the message heard by thousands of Utahns gathered in the Church's Conference Center on Saturday for "Standing Together, Standing Strong: An Interfaith Conference on the Family."

Family Night Exemplified — Las Vegas Review-Journal
In Las Vegas, Nevada, Church members Howard and Cristi Bulloch set aside every Monday evening for uninterrupted time with their daughters. What's interesting, Howard noted, is that Laurel, 11, and Bethany, 5, "anticipate it all week long. They plan it and think about what they're going to do that night." On Monday nights, "they know they have their parents' full attention and we have their full attention," he said. "That's what makes it different, I think."
Preparedness Fair Held — Edwardsville Intelligencer
In a post-9/11 world, communities, businesses, and families have more interest in implementing disaster plans. With this in mind, the Edwardsville and Glen Carbon Wards of the Church in Illinois recently hosted their second annual Emergency Preparedness Fair. The fair's goal is to help raise awareness about procedures that are already in place and to help individuals to have a safe, prepared home.
Soldier Honored Decades Later — Tri-City Herald
Church member Don Brown was wounded in battle at the Naktong River just 16 days after he landed in Korea in 1950. He earned a Purple Heart. But he never saw the medal until approximately 50 years later. Recently in Hermiston, Oregon, Lt. Col. David Holliday, commander of the Umatilla Chemical Depot, gave Brown the Purple Heart and a Silver Star for bravery during a ceremony at a local meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
