Missionary Families Asked to Avoid Airport Send-offs

SALT LAKE CITY — To accommodate new FAA regulations that allow only ticketed passengers to pass beyond airport security checkpoints and out of respect for the safety and convenience of all travelers, The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints asked today that families and friends of missionaries say their farewells when they take their missionaries to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo.

Families and friends should not go to the airport when their missionaries have completed their time at the Provo MTC and are flying to their individual missions.

Those whose missionaries are traveling directly to a missionary training center out of the country should also say their farewells before going to the airport and not congregate there.

As missionaries return from their missionary service, persons other than immediate family members should make arrangements to meet them at their homes or a place other than the airport.
