Improving Instruction

As teachers take time to prepare their lessons thoughtfully and prayerfully, they will be blessed with greater understanding. They will be more receptive to the guidance of the Spirit.

Teachers can prepare an environment that invites the Spirit to attend. Then the Spirit can bear witness of the truthfulness of the principles taught. This can be done in many ways, including praying, teaching from the scriptures and the words of latter-day prophets, bearing testimony, sharing experiences, using music, and expressing love for the Lord and for others (see Teaching , No Greater Call, 45–46).

As leaders prepare to teach each lesson, they should pray for the Spirit to help them know when to share their most sacred feelings. They may be prompted to bear testimony several times during a lesson, not just at the conclusion (see Teaching , No Greater Call, 44).
