Second and Third Sunday: Teachings of Presidents of the Church

Quorum and group instruction on the second and third Sundays is a study of the doctrines of the gospel as taught by latter-day Presidents of the Church. The curriculum is the current edition of Teachings of Presidents of the Church. Each quorum or group member should receive a copy of the book, which becomes part of his permanent gospel study library.

Where the Teachings of Presidents of the Church books are not yet available, leaders should use part A or part B of Duties and Blessings of the Priesthood, depending upon the year.

Lessons on second and third Sundays usually are taught by quorum or group instructors, but they may be taught by a member of the elders quorum presidency or high priests group leadership. The lessons should be taught in the order presented in the book. This will help members who move to or attend another unit during the year.

Leaders and instructors are encouraged to study and prepare well to ensure that gospel doctrines and principles are taught and discussed and that instruction time is used effectively. Leaders should inform members of chapters they should study to prepare for upcoming lessons and encourage them to apply the principles discussed in their daily lives.
