Presidency Meeting

Leaders plan and conduct meetings "as they are led by the Holy Ghost, according to the commandments and revelations of God" (D&C 20:45). Depending on the purpose or need of the meeting, leaders can prepare by asking themselves some of the following questions:

  • What principles should we discuss or teach?
  • What are the needs of the children in our area?
  • How can we meet these needs?
  • What should be the results of the discussion or teaching?
  • What music can we use to invite the Spirit?

Sample agenda for a presidency meeting:

Date:
Presiding: (name)
Conducting: (name)

  1. Opening prayer: (name)
  2. Spiritual thought: (name)
  3. Leadership training (from scriptures, handbooks, or other Church materials)
  4. Discussion of how to fulfill responsibilities (may include making announcements, discussing how to help meet the needs of individual children or teachers, planning for upcoming activities, reporting on assignments, and making new assignments)
  5. Closing prayer: (name)

Meetings should not be longer or more frequent than needed.
