What Is a Standards Event?
A standards event is a special program emphasizing moral values and eternal goals, such as the values and goals taught in For the Strength of Youth. Standards events are based on the last part of the Young Women theme:
"We believe as we come to accept and act upon these values, we will be prepared to make and keep sacred covenants, receive the ordinances of the temple, and enjoy the blessings of exaltation."
These events may be held on a class, ward, multiward, or stake level.
Why Do We Have Standards Events?
Standards events are held to encourage young women to live the standards that will bring them closer to the Savior.
When Are Standards Events Held?
Standards events are held annually, usually during Mutual.
Who Is Invited to Standards Events?
Young women and priesthood and Young Women leaders are invited to standards events. Standards events may include mothers or fathers, mothers and fathers together, young women and young men, or any combination of Young Women age-groups, depending on how a subject is presented.
How Do We Plan Standards Events?
Consider the following as you plan a standards event:
- Prayerfully consider the needs of the young women.
- Seek the Spirit as you plan and prepare.
- Discuss plans as a presidency and with priesthood leaders.
