Young women who are ages 16 and 17 serve as youth camp leaders. Under the direction of adult leaders, youth camp leaders can:
- Help plan camp from the beginning.
- Help prepare for camp.
- Help teach skills at camp.
- Lead devotionals and scripture study at camp.
- Help individual young women while at camp.
- Help evaluate the camp experience after camp.
When a young woman learns leadership skills, she gains confidence. Younger girls look up to youth camp leaders, and the youth leaders have the opportunity to make a difference in the younger girls' lives. (See Young Women Camp Manual [2002], 87–88.)
In addition, all young women can be leaders at camp as they do these things:
- Be a friend—include everyone.
- Be an example—live standards.
- Work together—do assignments cheerfully and willingly.
Young women should be involved in the leadership of every Young Women camp. The camp program provides leadership opportunities and experiences for each young woman during each year that she participates. |
