Meaningful Leadership Opportunities

Young Women leaders cannot and should not attempt to do everything themselves (see "Gospel Teaching and Leadership," section 16 of the Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2: Priesthood and Auxiliary Leaders [1998], 307).

Activity: Identifying Opportunities for Young Women to Serve and Lead

In the Young Women program, there are many meaningful leadership opportunities beyond serving in class presidencies. What are they? Where else can young women serve? How can young women lead out anytime they are together?

With your class presidency, review the following list of Young Women programs. Make a list of things young women could do to serve and to lead. Think creatively. Use your list as you plan your class activities.

During activities you should "be alert for opportunities to help young people strengthen their testimonies, develop talents and leadership skills, give service, and develop friendships with others" (Teaching, No Greater Call [1999], 121).
