The Church and the Eternal Family Are Presided Over by Priesthood Authority
"The priesthood is the power and the priesthood line is the means provided by the Lord to support the family" (Richard G. Scott, "The Doctrinal Foundation of the Auxiliaries," Ensign, Aug. 2005, 63).
Young Women leaders work under the authority and direction of priesthood leaders to help families and individuals realize divine expectations (see Richard G. Scott, "The Doctrinal Foundation of the Auxiliaries," 63). Priesthood leaders give guidance and vision to orient the service of Young Women leaders.
Young Women and Priesthood Leaders Work in Unity
"Stake presidents and bishops, we plead with you to give encouragement and help in every possible way to the women and girls of your stake and wards. They need your priesthood backing. They need your leadership and counsel. . . .
"Brethren and sisters, we must get on our knees and plead with the Lord for help and strength and direction. We must then stand on our feet and move forward" (Gordon B. Hinckley, Worldwide Leadership Training Meeting, Jan. 10, 2004, 20–21).
The partnership between Young Women leaders and priesthood leaders should include the following elements:
- Trust
Young Women leaders are given a trust when they receive their call to serve and should be trusted by priesthood leaders to do the Lord's work.
- Communication
This is best accomplished when Young Women leaders prayerfully work to solve concerns and seek the counsel of priesthood leaders.
As Young Women and priesthood leaders magnify their callings, they fulfill the trust they are given.
