Annual Theme

Medallions

A notice dated September 15, 2010, announced the 2011 Mutual theme: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things” (Article of Faith 1:13; italics added).

Leaders are encouraged to use the theme as a focus of "special cultural events and other dance, music, and drama activities." Leaders may also introduce the theme with a new DVD, Strength of Youth Media 2011: We Believe, which will be sent to units in November 2010. Additional resource material in support of the theme will be available in the New Era and Liahona magazines and on LDS.org at the beginning of 2011.

Priesthood and auxiliary leaders are invited to counsel together about the issues facing their youth and the teachings in Article of Faith 13 and determine how to use this theme and the tools of the Young Women program to strengthen youth.

Information will be sent each year from Church headquarters to priesthood leaders suggesting an annual theme for Mutual to be discussed with youth leaders. The theme may be used to provide focus for activities such as dance, drama, speech, sports, music, or service. Preparations for the activities should be made during Mutual (see Guidebook, 25).
