These activities all present an opportunity for youth to share with others their testimonies of the restored gospel and what it means to live it. For more ideas, see The Activity Book (1977; item no. 31455).
- Testimonies grow through service projects.
Meaningful service activities can help youth develop a lifelong practice of serving others. (See Gordon B. Hinckley, "Forget Yourself and Serve," New Era, July 2006, 2–5.)
The Humanitarian Services section of Provident Living.org lists several ideas for service.
- Testimonies can be shared through musical productions.
Music activities could include performances by youth choral groups, variety shows, quartet and music festivals, road shows, and short presentations on music appreciation. Activities also could include instruction in singing, conducting, and reading music.
- Dance festivals can express to others joy and testimony of the gospel.
Dance activities could include instruction in dance, performances by youth groups, and variety shows.
- Gospel principles can be shared at sports and fitness events.
In our gospel we have a code of health (the Word of Wisdom) and a reverence for our bodies. Sports and physical fitness activities could include a variety of competitive and recreational sports, fitness programs, or instruction in sportsmanship and healthful living. For some ideas for sports and fitness activities, see The Activity Book, pages 121, 134, and 139–40.
- Through drama and speech presentations, testimonies can be shown and be felt.
Speech and drama activities could include plays, skits, role-playing, road shows, musicals, or instruction in these areas. For some ideas, see The Activity Book, pages 57–77.
- Cultural, home, and visual arts activities can express testimony.
History, traditions, art, dances, and food specific to a culture are all a part of who we are. We all can learn from customs of others and those who have gone before. Home arts activities could include instruction on family relationships, nurturing, cooking, decorating, sewing, handicrafts, or gardening. For some ideas, see The Activity Book, pages 107–17.
- Feel the Spirit and share testimonies at camp.
Camps are an important part of the Young Women and Young Men programs and are an excellent way to strengthen testimonies. Camps can be held at the ward, stake, or multistake level, as determined by local priesthood leaders. For detailed information on camps, visit the Young Women Camp pages on this site.
- Historical commemorations bear testimony of ancestors and show gratitude for blessings.
For the 2005 celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Prophet Joseph's Smith's birth, youth from many wards and stakes were asked to share their testimony of Joseph Smith by creating something. Some examples were dances, art projects, sewing projects, crafts, and woodwork.
