Discover the interior of a log schoolroom and cabin--the most common available housing in historic Nauvoo. Imagine calculating math problems with a piece of chalk and a slate board.
Built in 1844, this log cabin was the home of Dr. Calvin Pendleton and his family. Dr. Pendleton was involved in several pursuits, including doctoring, gunsmithing, and school teaching. From his home he taught reading, writing, and arithmetic to youth and penmanship to adults.
