Deceit, Deceive, Deception
In the scriptures, to deceive is to cause someone to believe something that is not true.
- He who has not sworn deceitfully shall ascend into the hill of the Lord:Ps. 24:4;
- Deliver me from the deceitful:Ps. 43:1;
- Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil:Isa. 5:20; ( 2 Ne. 15:20; )
- Let no man deceive himself:1 Cor. 3:18;
- Let no man deceive you with vain words:Eph. 5:6;
- Evil men shall deceive and be deceived:2 Tim. 3:13;
- Satan, who deceived the whole world, was cast out:Rev. 12:9;
- Satan was bound that he should deceive the nations no more:Rev. 20:1–3;
- The Lord cannot be deceived:2 Ne. 9:41;
- If ye follow the Son, acting no deception before God, ye shall receive the Holy Ghost:2 Ne. 31:13;
- Sherem confessed that he was deceived by the power of the devil:Jacob 7:18;
- The people of King Noah were deceived by flattering words:Mosiah 11:7;
- The wise have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived:D&C 45:57;
- Wo unto them that are deceivers:D&C 50:6;
- He became Satan, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men:Moses 4:4;
