Face to Face with Musical Artists

Watch Event

Enjoy this broadcast from October 11, 2017, that featured musical artists Lexi Walker, Madilyn Paige, Nicole Luz, and Patch Crowe answering questions and performing several songs. The musicians were accompanied by Stephen Nelson and youth from the Lyceum Philharmonic at American Heritage School.

This event can be watched as part of a Mutual activity, or you can watch with your friends or family at home. Please share your feelings and thoughts about the event in the comment section below. You can also share what you learned on the LDS Youth Facebook page or on Twitter and Instagram using #LDSface2face.

Lexi Walker has performed around the world and with notable artists such as the Piano Guys, David Archuleta, Kristin Chenoweth, and Lindsey Stirling. She believes that music conveys what’s in our hearts, and she hopes that what she sings will uplift and inspire others.

Madilyn Paige competed on The Voice at age 16 and later released her first EP, which includes her single “Irreplaceable.” Madilyn continues to perform throughout the U.S. and Canada and is working on a new album of original music. She is passionate about helping youth get through the journey of life and enjoys sharing messages of self-worth.

Nicole Luz starred in the Brazilian version of American Idol at age 9 and Brazil’s version of The Voice Kids at age 13. Last year, Nicole participated in an international talent competition with 500 youth from 80 countries and won first runner-up in the teen category. Nicole has found exciting opportunities to share the gospel through her talents as she continues to build her music career.

Patch Crowe started his music career putting on Jackson 5 concerts for his stuffed animals. He made the transition to more enthusiastic audiences when he became a member of Beyond 5. In 2015 he went on his greatest adventure yet as a missionary in the Scotland/Ireland Mission. He is excited to share his love and testimony in new ways upon returning home.

Maybe somebody can help me. I am working to become a better singer. I have gotten a good voice instructor, and my singing has improved a lot. But, when I hear myself on a video or recording, I have a habit of saying that it doesn't sound good. I know that my singing can help people, but since I have been putting myself down for so long I no longer think that my "tiny voice" can do much. How do I encourage myself that I am a good singer?

On the way to watch this event, one of my young women was telling me about school, and how she wasn't good at making friends. For her to then hear the same words come from such a beautiful talented role model as Madilyn along with how dealt with it was such a gift for her in this time of self -discovery and growth. Thank you Madilyn! And all of you for your beautiful.words and testimony you are a wonderful inspiration in this world.

Thank you so much, I enjoyed listening and watching this video but most importantly feeling the spirit throughout the whole program... Everything that I've heard and felt, is so true and I've experienced some of those things. As a singer & performer, I've learned to always put the Lord first, for this is His gift and talent that He has bestowed upon me and its blessed my family in many ways.

Gospel related music is always inspirational because it mirrors the divinity in us because we are all children of our Heavenly Father and our Elder Brother Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. With good music, prayer and scripture study, our faith grows stronger everyday as we are taught and blessed by the Spirit.

Olivia, to answer your question, and mine got divorced whike im out here on my mission, she needs to understand that people have agency and thats something God will not take away. People get to make their own choices in life. God isnt the one who made them divorce. He still loves them and He loves her as well. God, our Heavenly Father, loves us, His children! He cares for us, especially in our time of need and when we're feeling down. Hooes this helps! -Elder Vazquez w

I have always loved to listen to all kinds of music, and of late I have been praying to find worthy music, both for me and my family. I was thrilled to watch these artists and discover the strength and power of their testimonies through music. GOOD MUSIC DOES EXIST! Very exciting.

I know the event is over, but I'm hoping that somebody will see this and be able to help out! I have a good friend whose parents just went through a difficult divorce. She is still recovering. I have never gone through anything like that, but how can I help her see that her Father in Heaven still loves her? Thank You! -Olivia

Good day to you. We watched this face to face last night with our youth group. Fantastic! Our youth seemed to enjoy the experience very much. Thank you for all the coordination it took to help make this happen. I was wonder if I might make a suggestion in program format. There have been face to face events that have been more reverent in nature and in more of a worship setting, that deserve a subdued atmosphere, but one like this....although gospel topics are being address it also had some marvelous entertainment components. Why not encourage and allow the studio audience to clap after musical performances? That seems more natural than sitting in silence, and I think it would connect more with those watching via the feed. Just a suggestion. Thanks.

I loved the song Irreplacable! It was so inspiring to hear. Even though none of my questions got answered, for those who did it probably was a great experience!
Carol J 10 days ago Idaho, United States
Thank you to all 4 artists for acknowledging their fears and their efforts to overcome. I am especially grateful for Patch's testimony that when he felt inadequate the Spirit whispered that it was enough to want to try. I witness that the Lord allows us to feel insufficient so that we can feel His strengthening power. (Jacob 4:7)

Im Kira M, and i just have to say that i am a huge fan of Madilyn Paige! I know its over but I'm hoping she still sees this! She is a huge inspiration to me, I have something called Functional Abdominal Pain Syndrome (FAPS), and so I'm always in pain and always having terrible cramps, basically I was told before age 12 that I have a terrible illness with no cure. I will quite possibly have this for the rest of my life. I got terribly depressed after I found out 2 years ago. I was too sad and hurting too much to leave the house until I got a CD from my cousin. It was your CD, It took my a while to listen to it but I love it so much! Thank you for being so uplifting to me and other 14 year olds around the globe! I appreciate you 3

Watching a little late at the Stake Center and scarfing down cotton candy with some friends. It's a cool experience so far. Gonna start saying personal prayers now... Question: I don't really get asked out a lot which I'm fine with since I'm not old enough yet, but when I do I feel like I'll hurt them by saying no, and myself by saying yes. How do I say no without sounding like a turd?

This face to face event, has made my spirit stonger, and my soul a little bit closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am grateful for all of those beautiful examples of faith and strenght, like Patch Crowe, Nicole Luz ,Madilyn Paige, and Lexi Walker. It is good to know that there are other persons like you, trying to find that peace and calm, that only our Savior, can provide. Thank you!

To answer Kylen B, (from a current full time misionary) there's not much you can do, parents have residual rights(meaning control of his religious affiliation), it's his agency though, and you can friendship him all the better by showing him more of your faith, and pray for his parents hearts to be softened.
